| Children's Home Society (CHS) of Florida has recently changed its way of doing things. They now have a centralized office in Jacksonville, to take care of requests for NON-ID and searches. The new centralized office is referred to as the "Adoption Archive Unit" this is suppose to make things easier on those searching, and the information can be supplied faster. |
| Since Children's Home Society (CHS) of Florida has re-organized, so have their FEES for services. We hesitate to quote FEES here as they often change. Please contact them directly for FEE information on services. However, we will provide a list of some of their services and rules. All fees must be paid in advance, and there are no guarentees or refunds if the search proves unsuccessful. CHS will no longer accept personal checks. Payment may be made by Visa, Master Card, Money Order, or Certified Bank Check. A reduced fee schedule is available but limited for those that cannot afford services. Need is evaluated on a case by case basis. If you think you might qualify, ask for the paperwork. There is a FEE for NON-ID, which includes a fee for accessing your file and one hour of search and prep time. This includes medical and history NON-ID information only. There is a FEE for Search and Contact (or what they refer to as their CI program). This includes;accessing your file, four hours of search time and telephone calls prior to reunion. Birth Families - There is no FEE for adding additional information to your file, such as name or address change or current medical information Adoptees - Must be 18 years of age or older and provide proof of identity.
