LaVerne Knight,(formerly LaVerne Beard) had began her love affair with poms with two female pom puppies when she was 16 years old in 1955.. The death of one of the puppies left her heart aching for another pom. This search led her to keep adding to her beloved breed and started the ball rolling for the beginnings of LaVerne's poms. LaVerne's heart was captured and captivated by these lovely poofs of fur! In the early 1960's LaVerne had met Irene Weltz (Breeder of the Blossom View's line) and later she met Shirley Hoffman (Breeder of the Skylark line)These two women were two of Californias top Pomeranian Breeders at that time and became LaVerne's mentors. There knowledge and champion Pomeranians proved them to be the best foundation for LaVerne to begin her own line. Vacaville,Ca. was home to the LaVerne's line for 27 years before heading back home to Oklahoma were she presently resides. Although she doesn't show her dogs in the show ring, LaVerne has produced and continues to produced show quality poms who are correct in structure,sound,and profusely coated. She has devoted her life to her pom and knowledge in breeding them. LaVerne's poms reflect a rainbow of exotic colors with the partis being her #1 color. LaVerne's line are the best kept secret in the parti color breeding of Pomeranians.
