Background:
Olivia grew up with her parents on the family vineyard outside the capital of Betazed. Her father was minor attach� with the Betazoid Diplomatic Corps and as a result, Olivia traveled to Earth and other areas of the Quadrant while quite small. She was exposed to other cultures and lifestyles early in life. Olivia developed a talent for puzzles and languages. At the age of nine, her parents separated though didn�t divorce, and she returned to Betazed with her mother. She was raised with traditional Betazoid values.

Olivia was very mature for her age because she was rarely around children her own age; she preferred to entertain herself or the company of a few older children. As she entered adolescence, she began to develop both physically and telepathically. At the age of 15, she was entered the Betazed Institute for Gifted Children.

The Academy was a mixed experience for her. She loved the academic environment and excelled at decryption and unscrambling exercises. She opted for Operations and focused on Communications.
Socially, she regressed somewhat, being uncomfortable with the overwhelming thoughts of the non-telepathic species. Her acute telepathic sensitivity made it difficult to block all of their thoughts all of the time. She retreated to a smaller core group of friends. She graduated with Honors and entered the six-month program at the Starfleet Language School.

Olivia�s Cadet Cruise and first posting received extremely positive evaluations from her superiors. She was set to attend Operations Graduate School at Starfleet Academy when the Dominion War escalated and that assignment was postponed. After the war, she took a three-month leave of absence to return home and assist with the recovery effort on her home world after the occupation. Upon returning to fleet duty, she became bored with her assignment and after the capture of the USS Boxer by Kreel�s forces, she requested a posting to the USS Fury in Strategic Operations. She has yet to decide on a career path and is keeping her options open.

Personality Profile:
Olivia is polite, friendly, and very graceful. It is immediately clear to anyone who meets Olivia that she is a Betazed traditionalist on issues such as sexuality, clothing, relationships and telepathy. She does not run from conversations, but tends to expose very little about herself early on.
Like most Betazoids, Olivia is direct and honest. She is tends to be quiet at first, but opens up once she gets to know a person. She is an observer. She still tends to have a small core group of friends, though she is kind to most. She readily smiles and is playful around friends; to others she is an enigma. Her telepathy is on the higher range for a Betazoid.
