| Family: Dalan's family are decended from Wales and in a small community on Mars they try and keep their heritage alive. Followers of Liam Degan's views on neo-transcendentalism led this small community to the relative isolation of the Martian highlands. Over the next century many of the ideals of the movements have been reconciled within mainstream society though the Welsh community still retains their original beliefs in the importance of community and the extended family. Interests: Keen enthusiast in ancient Earth history had led Dalan on many a strange path. From research in to long sword techniques and martial arts reconstruction, through to re-creating aspects of the Eugenics Wars. He also has a keen interest in Gaelic stories and language and feel his heritage quite strongly. To begin with he was happy with his work and enjoyed the challenges it presented, he soon became restless with the perceived monotony of his work. Seeing that his current role in Star Fleet was no longer what he wanted he obtained a copy of a past Academy examination and sat it to see how he would go. He failed dismally and put any hopes of being an officer out of his mind. About this time a new officer in charge of his section started to cause Dalan aggravation. He had saw that Dalan had it in him to make a good officer, put lacked the drive to get there, so he undertook a crusade to make Dalan's life as miserble as possible until he succedded. After two years Dalan had resat the examination and achieved a good pass into the academy. Once there he kept in touch with his former commanding officer and they have become quite good friends. From the onset of his training the world of strategic operation held an allure for Dalan, it appeared to be a job that offered infinite possibility and change. Dalan specialized in this area and achieved second-class honours. Dalan really started to come into his own on his first posting as an officer, the USS Fury. Gaining in confidence, Dalan have surged ahead and now feels his career is his life. He is dedicated to Starfleet and his officers and is still quite idealistic about the Federation. Personality Profile: Dalan seems to be a fairly laid back person that does not like to rock the boat. However, on areas where he consideres himself to have more experience that 'others' he can be quite arrogent. If he considers a task to be worthwhile he will take meticulous care with it. If he considers it to be worthless, he has a tendency to do only the minimun required. He is fairly easy to get on with but is protective of his own space. Chief Counselors Notes: Dalan has had to deal with a considerable amount of grief in the past few months over the deaths of close personal friends and through actions he performed while on classified away missions. He has a tendency to brood though he is dealing with his pains and concerns. Still somewhat of a mystery to the counseling staff. Rarely are Strategic Ops personnel 'what you see, what you get. Physical Description: The only notable physical characteristic of Dalan is his size, and even that is not spectacular when compared to some other races. He has strong right hand, shoulder and forearm muscles (developed from sword work). |
