Both parents were non-commissioned officers on the USS Independence at the time of his birth. The Marcus family had a long and unbroken line of non-commissioned officers in Starfleet. Raised and educated on various Starbases and starships, Hadrian was a typical military brat. There was never any question of service to Starfleet, the only surprise was when Hadrian graduated with Honors and represented the first Marcus commissioned officer. Hadrian�s first service came aboard the USS Independence and USS Toyko as a junior Tactical Officer. On the large ships, the opportunity for advancement was limited. His next posting came aboard the USS Nightingale, a �survey� vessel, which was in fact, a �spy� vessel operating near Klingon space carrying sophisticated sensor equipment. This experience peeked Hadrian�s interest in Starfleet Intelligence, who in turn, after repeated test profiling, deemed the young Lieutenant was �Counter-Intelligence� material. Hadrian experienced 14 months Intelligence training, including utilizing an almost photographic memory. He was paired with a young Betazoid Intelligence operative named Asana Rainer. Hadrian learned to memorize classified (and very dangerous information) and the Betazoid could retrieve the information the Hadrian�s mind from city blocks to ultimately a mile away. Hadrian was posted at the Federation Embassy on Romulus and Asana posed as a Betazoid trader. For over a year, the Federation passed information securely off the Romulan Home World by this method. Hadrian and Asana drew emotionally closer through the telepathic linking, although they had little face to face contact after their initial training. When the Romulans entered the Dominion War, Starfleet Intelligence decided to re-post the pair of officers. Hadrian and Asana took 60 days R&R together. They became lovers and made plans for a life together after the war. It was a whirlwind romance, however, Asana knew Hadrian completely from their telepathic union. Upon her return to service, Asana was posted aboard the USS Salet as Chief of Strategic Operations. The vessel was destroyed in a fleet battle with Jem�Hadar and Cardassian forces near Deep Space Nine. Hadrian became motivated totally by revenge. Starfleet Intelligence, anxious to exploit his drive, sent him deep into Jem�Hadar controlled space. Hadrian completed numerous missions, some small, most dangerous. His classified missions included assassinating a notorious Cardassian Gul, bombing and destroying a Jem�Hadar refueling depot and providing incredibly vital information on Breen force movements during the final stages of the conflict. When the war ended, Hadrian paid a steep price emotionally, as the moral consequences of his violent actions began to haunt his conscience. Diagnosed with severe post tramatic stress disorder, he was treated by Counselors assigned to Starfleet Intelligence. Hadrian was to valuable an operative to lose and his head was filled with classified secrets. The �effectiveness� of his �re-orientation� was debatable and Hadrian requested a transfer out of Starfleet intelligence. Starfleet Intelligence countered with an offer of promotion to Lieutenant Comander. Hadrian rejected the proposal. Starfleet Intelligence denied his request but offered to place him on �in-active� status and approve his posting to a starship as a Strategic Operations Officer. Hadrian waited several months before being ordered to the USS Fury. He was suddenly trnasferred off the Fury in a mass crew reassignment. It is his opinion he was placed on the Revenant for a particular reason, known only to Starfleet Intelligence. Personality Profile: Hadrian is a quiet, introverted, man who has rededicated himself to his career and a new, healthier outlook. He can be charming or aloof, depending on his mood. He does not make friends easily or carelessly, but his is incredibly loyal to those he has. Although handsome and charismatic, he desires no more emotional attachment or romance, given the loss of Asana. He cannot resist a game of Poker. He is strong emotionally and has a sarcastic sense of humor. Chief Counselor's Notes: An officer of many strengths and divided loyalities. A man of unusual leadership qualities who is hesitant to command. Destiny will seek Marcus out despite his desire for a quiet routine life. Physical Description: Tall with an average build. Plasma burn scar on his left arm. Brown hair and blue eyes. Special Notes: Hadrian Marcus has a security clearance via Starfleet Intelligence which allows him to access information at a classification rate much higher than his rank or status would normally allow. Hadrian is extremely uncomfortable around and will avoid interacting with Betazoids if at all possible. If a Betazoid is present, Hadrian must concentrate to shield his thoughts and memories. Female Betazoids remind him of Asana. Although he attempts to hide his discomfort, it is clear to the trained eye. Hadian has a photographic memory. |
