Tumits
In the aspect of benefiting the P/people of Kassar South, the Ubar has decided on bringing into Camp "commodities" if You will, to expand O/our trade, and betterment of Kassar.

Quote from Chapter 8 "The Wintering" Nomads of Gor

"The Turians also, I note, receive other goods from the Wagon Peoples, who tend to be fond of the raid, goods looted from caravans perhaps a thousand pasangs from the herds, indeed some of them even on the way to and from Turia itself. From these raids the Wagon Peoples obtain a miscellany of goods which they are willing to barter to the Turians, jewels, precious metals, spices, colored table salts, harnesses and saddles for the ponderous tharlarion, furs of small river animals, tools for the field, scholarly scrolls, inks and papers, root vegetables, dried fish, powdered medicines, ointments, perfume and women, customarily plainer ones they do not wish to keep for themselves; prettier wenches, to their dismay, are usually kept with the wagons; some of the plainer women are sold for as little as a brass cup; a really beautiful girl, particularly if of free birth and high caste, might bring as much as forty pieces of gold; such are, however, seldom sold; It might be added that there are two items which the Wagon Peoples will not sell or trade to Turia, one is a living bosk and the other is a girl from the city itself, though the latter are sometimes, for the sport of the young men, allowed, as it is said, to run for the city. They are then hunted from the back of the kaiila with bole and thongs."

He will bring to Camp "Tumits" for Kassar South as a profitable commodity. In doing so would open up possibilities of abundance for Kassar. Tis true, a Tumit is a carnivorous bird hunted by the Wagon Peoples. Which brings to light, would be lively sport when the Tumits were released in Camp (with slaves and FW being behind the doors to only watch) for the Warriors to show Their skills as the birds where sought to be killed, or PKs forbid would take vengeance of the Warrior hunting them. As could serve as a paid sport for "Outsiders" to watch.

However the Tumit serves far more purposes then just that. The meat is delicious and can be made for numerous things, the same as vulo but feeding FAR more Warriors as they are large. Think if You will of an Urthen Ostrich. The eggs also may be used and would save on the dozens of vulos eggs which are much smaller. (Please note that when cracking the shells of an egg, the same as vulos the shells should be saved to feed back to them in their feed as it strengthens the quality of eggs, plus can be used as fertilizer to place about the ramberrie bushes) The meat and eggs may be sold to cities as very few but the Wagon People dare risk the thrill to obtain this savory meat. Nay to mention the market for the larger eggs.

The teeth and bones are useful in crafting needles for nay only sewing, tooling of leathers, but medical as well. The bones as they are smaller then bosk yet posses a sturdy quality can be used for fashioning many things, especially tongs to be used in the servery to spare burnt fingers. They can adorn the handles of weapons as in the smaller unique daggers for Free Women, and as they are a bit whiter and more porous can be easily dyed for a colorful effect.

The beaks and claws may be used as fishing hooks and also fashioned to acceptable tools for baking and tooling of the leather hides of the bosk. The feathers of the Tumit may be used to adorn clothing, unique leathers, slave customs of dance and to be placed on the gorean spears.
The penning of these birds would need to be one of strength and durability, and the care left only to Those who are agile and quick, as they are not one to be domesticated. But then what Kassar is?

Quotes on Tumits

"Continually testing the wind; beyond them I saw one of the tumits, a large, flightless bird whose hooked beak, as long as my forearm, attested only too clearly to its gustatory habits; I lifted my shield and grasped the long spear, but it did not turn in my direction; it passed, unaware." Nomads of Gor page 2.

"On the saddle there also hung, on one side, a coiled robe of braided bosk hide and, on the other, a long, three-weighted bola of the sort used in hunting tumits and men" Nomads of Gor pg 10-11

"It consists of three long straps of leather, each about five feet long, each terminating in a leather sack which contains, sewn inside, a heavy, round, metal weight. It was probably developed for hunting the tumit, a huge, flightless carnivorous bird of the plains, but the Wagon Peoples use it also, and well, as a weapon of war" Chapter Four "Outcome of The Spear Gambling" Nomads of Gor

"Once he turned to Harold. "I think in a few days we might hunt tumits," he remarked. Chapter 26 "The Egg of The Priest Kings" Nomads of Gor

"... it is nearly the best time for hunting tumits with the bola... The tumits run best this time of year rather toward the Cartius," observed Kamchak. I think," said Kamchak, "I will have a new bole made for the hunting." page 327-328. Nomads of Gor

"I gathered that the best season for hunting tumits, the large, flightless carnivorous birds of the southern plains, was at hand, for Kamchak, Harold and others seemed to be looking forward to it with great eagerness." Chapter 27 Page 331 Nomads of Gor
"Kamchak smiled and looked down. "It will soon be time for hunting tumits," he said. Chapter28 Nomads of Gor
