Like the celebrated historical figure Kasper Hauser, the real-life fictional character of Miles Pieri arrived, with no explanation, in a central European town on a bright spring morning. When he was found in the Debreceni Kozpont (Debrecen town centre) he was unable to speak even the most basic sentence. All he was able to tell the people of this large, academic Hungarian town was I want to be a writer like my father? He arrived with very few belongings, clutching on to his small white plastic iPod as if it was the only thing in the world that mattered.
Needless to say, he quickly became a sensation in the town. He soon made the acquaintance of many of Debrecens most eminent scholars and ethnographers. Although nobody could solve the mystery of what he was doing there Pieri seemed happy enough and told of the great hardships he had endured in his struggle to find freedom and peace.
Just a few short months after his appearance Miles Pieri disappeared from Debrecen. The people were distraught and the local tourist industry, which had capitalized on the growing myth of the Child Of The Puszta?collapsed. Unsold T-Shirts, Palinka tankards and action figures were buried in a landfill just yards from Pieris favourite eating place, the Csapo Gyros on Csapo Utca.
This seemed to be the end of this mysterious incident. And it would have been, save for the sad coda that occurred a few months later. On Christmas eve, 2002 the body of Miles Pieri was discovered, in Oxford, England. He had been stabbed 14 times, anally fiddled with and left dead, covered in spunk, in a skip.

C h i b a C i t y B l u e s - This weblog belongs to my friend Eri. She's a Hungarian student living in Japan and it's a cool diary of her adventures there. In Hungarian!

R i n g W o r l d - Everything you ever wanted to know about the Ring movies. Great site with a lively forum and frequent updates. I'm an occasional contributer too!
T h e O n i o n - Everyone has a link to The Onion on their page, and with good reason. Funniest site on the web and truly America's Finest News Source
T V G o H o m e - TV Go Home..is it still funny? Charlie Brookner might be distracted by his job writing for The Grauniad these days but this fake TV listings page still produced plenty of chuckles
F u c k e d C o m p a n y - Which dotcoms have crashed and burned today? Great fun and extremely uplifting if you believe that commerce has no place on the WWWeb. MicroSoft might never make it into the list of casualties but we can always dream.
U K R e s i s t a n c e - Ostensibly a videogame page, UKR is one of the best UKcentric humour sites. It's amazing what you can do with images stolen from the Fujitsu Siemens online photo library. Check out the forum too - always some top finds if you can be bothered to wade through the geekspeak.
N e e d T o K n o w - NTK is even geekier than UKR. I'm not always sure what they're going on about but their 'puerile Google mis-spellings' are always a joy
L a w O f T h e P l a y g r o u n d - Just discovered this, possibly the funniest, certainly the cruellest site on the web. All together now..."JOEEEEEYYYY!"
D e b r e c e n i E g y t e m - Official site of Debrecen University. Spent many a happy hour in this place so I thought I'd put a link to the website here. Somebody might be interested!?!?!
P r e t t y G i r l s - This one goes out to Chris Wing, a total pervert who'll really appreciate this page. It features every single pretty girl in the world. Well, 400 of them anyway.
B 3 T A - Truly excellent site offering links to the weird and wonderful of the web. If you're a dab hand with PhotoShop (or even if you're not) there is a challenge every Friday and the message board is always fun. Lots of injokes for the initiated (check out No Hands the kitten, Furtive the polar bear and THE FEAR) but truly there is something for everyone here!
D D D H o u s e - Cool, reliable and extremely cheap place to buy Japanese and HK movies online. If you're in to this stuff as much as me then you'll find what you're looking for here and discover plenty of suprises too. Well worth checking out for that DVD of Dark Water you've been after. They do VCD's as well, and these are originals not pirate copies. Reccomended.
