Logfile from Harpers-Tale

Kia has arrived.

Valanth ambles lanquidly out to the bowl.

Northeastern Bowl

The northeastern arc of the Weyr Bowl seems somewhat isolated from the rest of the weyr - with necessity, for this is the training grounds for young riders and dragons, the Weyrlings.  The main entrance to the weyrling barracks is just north of here, and the ground there is well-trampled and firm, as if many feet, both human and dragon, have wandered over it dozens of times a day.  Further up in the northwest corner of the bowl is the waterfall, tumbling out of the Weyr face several dragonlengths above, misting the area in a rainbow glow.  On the south side of the bowl lie the ashpits and firestone supplies for the entire Weyr.

It is a summer before dawn.  The early morning hours are calm, and only a faint breeze stirs the air.  The air feels cool, still, after the passage of the storm, and the scent of rain lingers.

Gliding about are Bubbly, Overture, Pyxis, and Rorschach.

Green Misumith, blue Lazeth, and blue Valanth are here.

You see Flamer Charging Unit here.

Kia is here.

Obvious exits:

Barracks     Pool Path     Central Bowl

Xylyth paces easily, head high and tail dragging on the ground. out of the barracks.

You go to the Central Bowl.

Central Bowl

You stand in the center of the Ista Weyr bowl. You feel small as you crane your neck to look into the sky, at the towering five pinnacles of the Weyr rim, so tall they seem to reach into the clouds. The bowl floor slopes gently upward to the southeast, where various tunnels lead to the hatching grounds, ground weyrs, and living caverns. Across the bowl to the northeast are the weyrling barracks and training grounds. You can see the Weyr's artificial waterfall as it sheets down along the northern wall of the Bowl, its pool concealed at the base of the bowl by an ethereal cloud of mist. West, the entire wall of the bowl has been blown out by some long-distant eruption, and you can see clear out to the ocean from here. The view is breathtaking.

It is a summer before dawn.  The early morning hours are calm, and only a faint breeze stirs the air.  The air feels cool, still, after the passage of the storm, and the scent of rain lingers.

Gliding about are Shinigami, Djau, Sanosuke, Silence, and Fusuke.

Bronze Umeth and green Suith are here.

Z'diah is here.

Xylyth paces easily, head high and tail dragging on the ground. to the Southeastern Bowl.

You go to the Southeastern Bowl.

Southeastern Bowl

This area of the bowl is the highest point of the bowl floor; from here, it slopes down and to the northwest, spilling out to the plateau below the wide gap in the Weyr rim to the west. Various tunnels here lead into the Weyr's inner caverns; the living caverns, hatching grounds, and main Weyr tunnel all branch off from here. To the west lie the stables where the Weyr's runners are housed. There is also a stone stairway that leads up to the Weyrleader's weyrs.

It is a summer before dawn.  The early morning hours are calm, and only a faint breeze stirs the air.  The air feels cool, still, after the passage of the storm, and the scent of rain lingers.

Perched on rocky crags about the bowl are Restless, Miki, and Libertia.

Bronze Nhamarath, green Fellrath, blue Magnolth, brown Morath, green Berwynth, brown Ftoranth, and brown Xylyth are here.

Obvious exits:

Hatching Cavern     Central Bowl     Weyr Tunnel     Living Caverns

Kia strides in from the Central Bowl.

Valanth ambles lanquidly in from the Central Bowl.

You go into the living cavern.

Living Cavern

The smooth, rounded walls of the vast living cavern sweep upward from an oval base, two dragonlengths long and one wide, large enough to seat every member of the Weyr at mealtimes.  The soft blackness of the lava which forms these caverns swallows glowlight, so shelves for glowbaskets abound, dotting the walls every three or four paces and casting gentle greenish light up toward the sparkles of gold volcanic glass embedded in the ceiling.  Ancient lustrous tables run along the long axis of the cavern, and at the far end is the raised dais and high table, where the Weyrleaders and their honored guests eat during formal occasions.  Behind the high table, the Weyr's symbol is chiseled into the stone: a smoking mountain in black, on an orange shield, trimmed in gold.

Perched near the food are twenty-seven firelizards.

Northeast Caverns     Kitchens     Bowl     Southern Caverns

Kia strides in from the Southeastern Bowl.

Kia is giggling quite a bit as she bounces into the Living Caverns her newly knotted shoulder a source of pride if confusion on her part. Food is first and foremost as she just shakes her head at something unspoken "I know Valanth but see the doorway isn't quite big enough for all dragons to fit through. If you squoze it might be possible but you're still growing and what if you got stuck!"

Kia

Five foot, one inches may not be tall but the presence of this young woman is always felt no matter her size. Widespaced sea green eyes are set into a slim freckled face that has sleeked down to high cheek bones and snubbed nose. Short, cropped and spikey would explain Kia's hair at this present moment. Alternating tones of blue are randomly stood on end around her head. The deep crimson of her natural color hair shoot up here and there giving her a rather weird look but thats alright. Formally whipcord thin this young woman is still thin but not overly so her body having a more feminine shape to it. Pale skin after years outdoors has finally settled at a more normal tone of beige not exactly dark or tan but color none the less.

Uniforms! Yup I'm afraid so this former Starcrafter now turned 'ling wears the lurvely uniform of an Istan. Bright orange and sometimes blinding in the middle of the day, made of a sturdy cotton like material it's comfortable looking and relatively soft. Black work pants already much abused it would seem fit snuggly to her hips tapering down to her ankles where the work boots are laced tightly.  Perched on Kia's head is Umi.  Perched on Kia's shoulder is Hai.  Perched on Kia's shoulder is Risa.  Perched on Kia's shoulder is Astet.

Kia wears the spiffy new knot bearing a double Cord, single Loop, small tail, and one tassle. All bright in the orange and black of Ista Weyr signifing her a still a Weyrling but not the Wingsecond of the Eclipse Wing.

She is awake and looks alert.

Kia is 18 Turns, 5 months, and 25 days old.

Kazra

Kazra stands tall at her final height of 5'8. Brown hair sweeps back off her face, but there is a new addition to it. Twined among the brown strads are quite a few colourful ribbons, white, red, blue, green and purple. Falling neatly down her back, they reach to her shoulders, giving Kazra's hair a new, colourful look. A small band of leather holds the ribbons and the hair back out of her sparkling blue eyes. Long legs taper upwards to a thin waist, broadening out only slightly to her upper body. Arms are slender and well formed, often gesticulating a point.

Kazra has changed her outfit along with her name, now sporting a vivid orange short sleeved top and a pair of black trousers. Her feet are covered with ankle length black boots that look rather worn, though sometimes Kazra kicks them off to wander around barefooted.

Kazra wears the orange and black knot of an Ista Weyr Weyrlings, with a thin ribbon of brown trailing through it to indicate her lifemate.

She is awake and looks alert.

You notice Kazra looking at you.

Kazra is 24 Turns, 1 month, and 24 days old.

Kazra waves her glass of juice in salute at Kia enters. "Weyrling Wingsecond Kia." she says formally from her lounged position in a chair, before grinning at her fellow weyrling. "And how are you and Valanth this morning?" she asks, sitting up slightly straighter in her chair.

Kia snickers as she glances at Kazra's salute even as she fills her plate up high with random food objects. "Oh we're fine besides the fact that he thinks he should be allowed in here. Even if they need to make the entryway bigger." a slight giggle as she balances her plate in one hand and grabs a glass of juice herself "Oh saluting to me! I suppose I should get used to it for the rest of Weyrlinghood but it just feels odd."

Kazra grins at the idea. "Tell him nothing interesting goes on in here, hopefully something more interesting will happen outside." she suggests, but not sure if she's talking sense. Xylyth doesn't have that problem you see. "I can give up on saluting you if you like?" she asks.

Kia shrugs "If you like that'd be great! As for nothing intersting mebbe that'll work" a pause as her eyes unfocus and then she just snickers "Nope didn't work he thinks that we're having party or something in here. Er.. more that there's interesting things in here to talk to." another shrug and she flops down into a seat picking at her food

Kazra nods and makes a mental reminder not to salute Kia in future. "Interesting things in here to talk to? You mean like with that Tree in the Central Bowl?" Looks like Xylyth's been gossiping again. "He was floating a branch from it in the basin the other day you know."

Kia bobs her head with a giggle "Yeah I know he's just so cute. I'm really hoping when we get our weyrs that Tree might be able to be transplanted to our ledge. That way he'd always have that friend to talk to."

Kazra nods. "You could always grow other plants in pots there. Xylyth was telling me that Valanth would like to talk to other plants, or was that Nverath?" Kazra's eyes unfocus briefly while she confers with her dragon then "It was Valanth, although Nverath did offer to introduce him to a cactus."

Kia grins "Oh definately we'll have to get some other plants but so far that's the only tree that's taken to him from what I understand." nibble nibble. Even as she glances towards the entryway "Valanth! Get your nose out of here would ya... The Headwoman'll get you and then what are we gonna do huh?"

Kazra frowns as she tries to remember something. Then she grins. Got it. "I did hear stories about some of the Reaches dragons while I was a resident there. Seems like they wanted to get into Ista Hold to listen to some Harpers. They tried to get in, got halfway there, then got stuck. Oil, butter, grease, everything was used to try and free them." Ah, memories.

Kia laughs "That'd just be horrible though. He'd be all slippery and need a bathe not to mention all the others that would just have to try it after that. Specially little greens who are too curious too." a drink is taken of her juice before she smiles "I can't believe I got W2 though it was surpsiing"

Kazra raises her glass in a toast. "To the suprised wingsecond of Eclipse Wing." she announces, before sipping her juice, trying to subdue her giggles. "Add the mess to the fact that the weyrlingmasters were not very happy, and it becomes worse." she adds, continuing the earlier conversation.

Kia wrinkles her nose "I hadn't even thought of that... Of course N'ano is predisposed towards Valanth sometimes considering we're great with his kids. They think Valanth is just a big firelizard for their entertainment." a wave of her hand and she sighs in relief "Oh I think he's gotten tired of it for now. Decided to go and take a nap"

"Does he mind?" Kazra asks Kia "Being climbed on or whatever?" She sets aside her mug, having finished its contents. "Maybe you should offer to help out the nannies?", she suggests, before she smiles at the fact that Valanth has gone to sleep.

Kia shakes her head "Nope not in the least and we might just volunteer to help the nannies sometimes. I know they'd appreciate it. Have you been looking at places to have your weyr yet? I mean there's tones of availble areas and since Valanth is getting better at flying and now we can have a better look at the ones we thought might work///"

Kazra shakes he head. "We haven't been up yet, I've been readjusting his straps first. Though he assures me that I won't fall, I still want straps round me good and tight. Apparently though, Xylyth already has his eye on somewhere, and can't wait to show it to me"

Kia has disconnected.

Kia slips onto the ground fast asleep.

You click your heels three times.

Xylyth's Curiosity Couch

Material dyed a deep green hangs from hooks that are embedded in the wall, making the small alcove fairly dark, lit only by two shielded glows. Dominating the alcove is the couch for Xylyth, carved out of the stone and moulded to the contuors of all the previous draconic occupants. Beside the couch is a nest of cushions and pillows, covered in brightly coloured materials, where Kazra makes her bed. A sheet of black, blue and orange sewn together is folded neatly. Next to the nest of cushions is another cushion, this one looking rather tattered and covered in a selection of grey hairs, marking the place where Kazra's canine Gigi sleeps when she is not being looked after by one of the weyrbrats. A small chest takes up the rest of the spare space in this room, where Kazra stores her clothes and other items. The floor is usually visible, with the alcove overall being neat and tidy.

It is a summer midmorning.  The sky seems to be brightening, and perhaps the high white cloud layer thinning.  The air is damp, but still comfortably cool.

On the perch is Emmy.

You see Gigi here.
