| A small boy is sitting on a boulder and drawing pictures in the dirt. from the look of it, hes quite bored, and hasn't figured out anything more interesting to do.. As Dragon and rider walk acrss the bowl floor, the boy looks up and a slight smile crosses his face as he looks at the brown. Xylyth is the first to pad into the bowl, with Kazra following close behind. At the sight of the boy though, Kazra halts and snaps into a salute. "Weyr child." she says, looking rather unsure of whether that is the right title to use, before she relaxes and continues to follow her dragon who by this time has settled down and is watching Aemergin curiously. The boy frowns at her salute as if he thoughtt she was crazy, and indeed, that is part of the reason. "I'm not a weyrbrat... I just live here." he says, almost in a provoked sulk, though those that know him, know he doesnt sulk. "Whats your name?" he asks, getting to the point of figuring out who this person is. "And how did you impress a brown dragon?" he adds with a quite puzzled tone in his voice. Kazra slides down beside Xylyth with a look of apology directed at Aemergin. "My apologys." is all she says. Well, at least N'ano couldn't say that she hadn't tried. "I'm Kazra, and this is Xylyth." she introduces the pair of them, with Xylyth rumbling in his own version of greeting. "As to how I impressed him, well, I was in the right place at the right time and he thought I was the one for him." The boy contunues to hold a rather puzzled look on his face. "but your a girl and hes a brown! Girls are supposed to impress Golds Greens and sometimes blues... not browns." he retorts. As he looks to the brown again, he does stop the frown and smiles at him. "He is pretty though..." "I suppose Xylyth didn't like any of the boys on the sand." Kazra says, before giving a smile at the complement, eyes distancing briefly. "He says thank you." she tells the boy. "What's your name?" He eyes her for a moment, deciding if it is ok to disclose that information. "I'm Aemergin" he responds after a few seconds. "I moved here a couple turns ago." "Good to meet you Amergin." Kazra notes with a nod of her head, before stretching out slightly. "Not often we get a quiet moment." she notes idely to herself, while Xylyth keeps looking at Aemergin. Merg tilts his head to the side a bit and ask "Why not? it's quiet right now... " he looks around, noteing the few people walking across the bowls floor at this time of night. " "Lessons, caring for Xy at odd hours, and now this saluting, chanting and running stuff." Kazra elaborates for the residents benefit. "That cadence is going to be burned into our brains. I'm sure that I heard D'baji muttering it in his sleep the other night." Aemergin frowns a bit more. "Running? cadence? what do you mean?" he asks, obviously not in tune with the whole weyrling expieriance. "Thanks to one of my fellows, we all have to be up at dawn, with our dragons, running round the bowl and chanting out all the knots and ranks of people that we will see." Kazra tells him. "It can be a nightmare." And Xylyth rumbles his agreement. Aemergin raises his eyebrows at the though of getting up before high noon. "Wow! that must be terible! and the dragons have to run too?" Obviously he's been asleep though all the running, otherwise he would know full well what happens. "Right along side us." Kazra tells him. "Mind you, its good excercise for them, now that they're larger enough for us to ride, though not to fly." And Kazra gives Xylyth a scritch with a smile "He's looking forward to flying." Aemergin 's face would be of amusement, save for the revelation that they can't fly yet. "Why can't you fly?" he asks, "Did somthing happen to hurt him so he can't?" sometimes it can be a blessing to be ignorant, but sometimes.... it just makes you look weird "No, he just isn't big enough yet to be able to fly yet." Kazra explains. "Especially not with a rider." She smiles. "Though we should be able to fly soon, but just short trips so he doesn't strain his wing muscles." See, she has being paying attnetion in lessons. . Aemergin has blue eyes, sandy blond hair, tall for his age around 5' 6, he is a string been of a kid right now, he has had a tall growth spurt but hasn't widened to porportion yet. is face is lightly fuzzed with hair and square, yet still lean. He is veary sure of him self and veary confident in what he does. He is not easily intimidated. given the chance, he will try to stare down a queen dragon. But mixed with this will, is a desire to make friends and get along, making it few and far between arguments. Aemergin is wearing a heavy tunic and thick flannel trousers. His cloak is wrapped around him as he shivers slightly from the cold. He is awake, but has been staring off into space for 2 minutes. Aemergin is 10 Turns, 10 months, and 21 days old. Kazra Kazra stands tall at her final height of 5'8. Brown hair sweeps back off her face, but there is a new addition to it. Twined among the brown strads are quite a few colourful ribbons, white, red, blue, green and purple. Falling neatly down her back, they reach to her shoulders, giving Kazra's hair a new, colourful look. A small band of leather holds the ribbons and the hair back out of her sparkling blue eyes. Long legs taper upwards to a thin waist, broadening out only slightly to her upper body. Arms are slender and well formed, often gesticulating a point. Kazra has changed her outfit along with her name, now sporting a vivid orange short sleeved top and a pair of black trousers. Her feet are covered with ankle length black boots that look rather worn, though sometimes Kazra kicks them off to wander around barefooted. Peeping out from Kazra's hair is Pyxis. Kazra wears the orange and black knot of an Ista Weyr Weyrlings, with a thin ribbon of brown trailing through it to indicate her lifemate. She is awake and looks alert. Carrying: Pyxis You notice Kazra looking at you. Kazra is 24 Turns and 7 days old. Xylyth Rich shades of soil encompass this brown's towering and imposing form completely, intermingling to form fresh shades and fathoms of earthiness where they fuse. Pale coffee tones spill over an angular muzzle and face seemingly carved from the earth, so fine is their detail, before giving way to muddy colourings that diffuse over well built shoulders and stomach, sleek muscle visible beneath silky hide, finally darkening to almost midnight shades at sweeping wings. Woven into these depths of night, as if by unseen magic, tendrils of deepest aubergine thread their way across the tautly spread membrane, surfacing to form cryptic symbols of colour then disappearing from view once more in a ritualistic dance of hide and seek. Continuing the rhythmic flow of colours, cinnamon and chocolate mix and intermingle over powerful back legs, while hints of gold seep into the shade of a perfectly formed tail. Xylyth's first set of straps are at first apperance, simple well oiled leather, fitting in all the right places. But on closer inspection, Kazra looks to have gone strange with a needle, and purple designs twist and turn in mystical and random patterns. Running down the centre of each strap, above the purple stitching are three thin threads of black, blue and orange, almost invisible against the brown leather unless you look closely. Looks like Kazra's sewing skills are improving. Xylyth is 5 months and 7 days old. He is 29 feet (9m) long, with a wingspan of 48 feet (16m). Xylyth senses Kazra looking at him. Xylyth seems to be listening. Aemergin 's face finnaly shows a bit of enlightenment. "oh! Are you one of the dragons from the last hatching?" he asks, directing the question towards the dragon. "I was there for most of it, but there were too many people and I couldn't see anything.." he smirks slightly at his misfortune. Xylyth nods his head in an agreement while Kazra vocalises "Yes, he was one of the earlier ones to hatch so my feet didn't get burnt that much. She looks affectioantley at Xylyth, obviously reliving the hatching, before she turns back to Aemergin with a smiled apology. "Truth be told, I can't remeber much about it each, it was like a whirlwind." Aemergin stands up drom his seat on the bulder and walks closer to the dragon, quite unafraid of the large animal. "Is he itchy anywhere?" Amergin asks, "I like scratching their itchy spots, and my brothers firelizards like it a lot.." he walks around to the side of the brown, looking under wing and around arma nd leg. Xylyth turns his head, trying to keep Aemergin in sight, but eventually gives up. Tail starts swishing slightly though, to see if it can come into contact with an ankle or two. "He isn't itchy at the moment, but knowing him, that won't last for long." Kazra says. Aemergin 's shulders droop as he sighs "oh." and he stands for a moement, trying to decide what the dragon /would/ like. "Does he need oil somewhere?" he asks, turning to Kazra with a brightening face. Kazra is about to answer when her eyes glaze again. Shaking her head, Kazra points to the forpaw nearest her. "Apparently, there's an itch starting up here that's annoying him." she says, patting the indicated paw. "Itchy thing." she mutters. Aemergin turns his head quickly back to the dragons paw, his yellow hair flying around. Merg examines the paw for a sign of the drying spot, then begins a soft rub, then adding a little pressure as he changes his rubbing pattern. Once assured it is rubbed enough, Aemergin begins scratching the thick hide hard enough to relieve the itch, but soft enough not to make it itch more from the pleasure of the first itch being relieved. "There! is that better?" he asks, looking up at the dragons glowing eyes. Xylyth thinks to you, << I bespoke Aemergin with << In your mind, you hear a soft voice say, << Much better. You scratch very well. >> >> >> Kazra grins as her lifemates mental pleasure is broadcast to her, adding her own scratching to his neck. "He likes that very much." she says, then blinks. "He just told me he told you that." Aemergin 's eyes suddenly go rounder than glowballs, and his mouth drops open as he stands there motionless. Then, as he realises what happened, he turns to the rider and exclaims "He Talked To Me!!" He then turns back to the dragon with a broad grin on his face "Thank you! is there anywhere else that itches?" he asks, still remembering to be polite to the dragons and their riders... though once in a while it does slip his mind.... Kazra has to hide a smile at Aemergins startlement, but she isn't without sympathy. She can remember what it was like when it happened to her. "Nope, no other places are itchy at the moment, but if you want to scratch his eyeridges, feel free." she says, with Xylyth rumbling his agreement. Aemergin sighs slightly as he is informed of no more itchy places, but he is re-energised at the mention of eyeridges. As the dragon presents his to the boy, Aemergin reaches out and begins rubbing the over eye protective ridge. "So, have you heard any gossip from around the weyr?" Kazra asks. "Being confined to the barracks means that we don't hear as much news, although Xy listens in to the other dragons conversations sometimes and forwards infomation to me." She's slipping back into her old gossipy habits it seems. Aemergin keeps rubbing various places above the dragons whirling eye as he responds. "I don't know any rumors... I don't listen to the grownups boring conversations veary much. too boreing... *Ech*" He gives a disgusted look at the girl. Even though she may be nearly 15 turns older than him, he seems to think she is still young enough to not be a "grumpy grownup" yet. "My brothers Firelizards say that he might get to learn the drum codes soon, hes always wanted to be able to use them, i dont know why.... " Merg gives an indifferent shrug, but that seems to be all the information he can give at a moments notice. "But one of the bronze riders was being really weird today... he wouldnt say hi to me... he acted like he was glad to see me, but he never said anything..." Ooh. "Which bronze rider do you know?" Kazra asks, hand still scratching away, before she nods. "Some conversation can be boring." And that seems to be all that the weyrling is going to say for the moment. Aemergin stops his rubbing for a moment as he thinks about the name... " I think it was Bagi or somthing like that... D'bagi?" he ponders the sound, then resumes his rubbing, adding a giggle as the dragons eye begins to droop and a low croon begins to vibrate his throat. Kazra nods knowlingly. "His name seems to be cropping up an awful lot these days." she mutters to herself. "Must talk to...ah, can't yet." and these comments seem directed mainly at herself. Then Xylyth's head comes up and Kazra sighs. "Sorry to dash like this Aemergin, but Xylyth informs me that we're needed in the barracks." She rises from her sitting position and then girl and dragon quickly head off. |
