Kasib signs 10 day contract with the Miami Heat
I want to start this Blog off by saying Thanks! to everyone who has supported me by sending encouraging emails and voicemails. If I haven't gotten a chance to respond directly back to you, your words help me keep pushing. Right now I am in Detroit, Michigan getting ready to play against the Detroit Pistons. If you haven't heard, Miami Heat has signed me to a 10 day contract. Some people might be thinking "Only Ten Days". but you have to start somewhere and I believe that this can be a start of a long NBA career. When I first got the call from my agent I was headed to a game against the Iowa Energy of the D-League. I was numb when I heard the news until I got on a flight the next morning and met the team in Charlotte where we had a game against the Bobcats. Last game was a homecoming for me as I had over thirty family and friends at the game in Madison Square Garden. We lost to the Knicks in overtime but to see all my family and friends really made me feel good. I want to give a special thanks to the Skyforce family in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. From the first day I got there they believed in me 100%. Part of me getting called up was them pushing me. From the owner to the coaching staff. I told my coach and good friend Nate Tibbetts that the game against Iowa Energy was my last minor league game ever! Hopefully this is true and I will continue to work hard and make that a true statement. I probably can sit here and write for hours but I have to rest before tonights game. We had walk through earlier and Coach Pat Riley just told me that I will be starting tonight. Thanks for the support as I go through this journey. Next week I will get into specific differences between the NBA and the D-League. Sib

4/3/08- What up everyone. Usually I don't write Blogs so close to each other but if there is a time to blog it is right now. The past two weeks have been a rollercoaster ride for me. I went from finding out that I would be playing for the Miami Heat to traveling back to the minor league in Sioux Falls. My spirits are up at an all time high right now. I feel disappointed but at the same time I know that this is a business and nothing is guaranteed. I haven't touched a basketball in 2 days. That might not sound like a long time but recently I have been a gym rat putting in a lot of hours of work. But now it is time to head back to Sioux Falls and continue to work on where I am trying to be, which is the NBA. Maybe three or fours years ago I would have been crushed and probably would have hid in a shell for about a week. Right now I am reading a book (yes a book) that really has been great for me at this time in my life. The book is called "Quiet Strength", a memoire by Tony Dungy. In this book he talks about the first time he got released and how many times he has been fired without really not knowing why? He has faith in God and realizes that you don't need a reason. The reason simply is God has different plans for you. So reading this book and learning from it has made this 10 day contract a lot less stressful for me. I know that no matter how bad I want this to happen in Miami that its either not my time here or the man upstairs wants me somewhere else. I had to learn this the hard way, but I am Blessed that Miami Heat gave me the opportunity to show what I can do at the highest level. If you think you won't see me in the NBA again then you are crazy. This is just another obstacle that I have to overcome. I have a game tomorrow in Sioux Falls. Hopefully the next time I write a blog I will be telling everyone that I am back in the NBA, until then back on the grind like always. Jersey Sib
4/22/08 Hey Everbody What's Up! The last month of my season was a great ending! I was recalled to the Miami Heat. We won the last game of the season, which most teams do not do. Although we were the last place team in the NBA,we still pulled off the win. However, Don't sleep on the Heat....Next year D. Wade, Marion and Hasleem, will all be healthy and hopefully I will be part of the team. Miami gave me a great opportunity to play and gain NBA experience. I wouldn't be surprised if I play there for the rest of my career. I also received The MVP of the D-League Award . That was a great accomplishment for me. There were many other good players out there. That award represents hard work, it shows that hardwork does pay off. I got less than 2 weeks to hang out and relax then I am right back at working for the rest of the summer. Soon I will be somewhere with some team and will be Blogging again. Thanks for all the support this season. You make me work and push harder. Thank You!!! Sib Jersey
