ALL Star Weekend Blog
Whats Up everybody!  These last couple days have been a blur. It has seemed like everyday runs into each other. It is hard to tell what day is which, whether its the 3rd or the 15th. The highlights of the last couple of weeks are definetly the All Star Weekend. I got to New Orleans on Friday and the first thing I thought about was how far the city of New Orleans have come. From watching the disaster of Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans looks like a city that is full of energy and loving people. On Friday I participated in an event that the D-League put together and this was nothing but a good game of H.O.R.S.E. Yes HORSE! The winner of that event was Lance Allred. I wasn't mad that I lost because I had fun playing. Also on Friday was the D-League Slam Dunk Contest, Hot Shots Skills competition, and the 3pt Shootout. My favorite event was the slam dunk contest. There were guys who really had hops and had some nice dunks up there sleeves. My favorite was Brent Pettway and Eric Smith. Pettway can compete in any Slam Dunk contest at any level. I remember 2 years ago I said that about Jamario Moon and no one believed me. If that name sounds familiar its because he now plays for the Toronto Raptors and participated in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest last year.
Before all of these events was the celebrity game. That was exciting to watch because people like Terrell Owens, Chris Tucker, Common, Floyd Mayweather, and ofcourse, I have to mention Gabrielle Union who was also there looking just as good as she does on tv. Also Analysts that I listen to everyday like Stephen A. Smith, Stauart Scott, and Kenny Smith. (I also have to mention that Craig Sager was there and yes he does always wear ridiculous suits, even off TV).  After Friday there were parties and events going on everywhere." I mean what kind of guy would I be if I went to the NO and not have some fun". There was a party hosted by Reggie Bush and Shaq in my hotel. I stopped by there and also found out that Baby and Wayne was performing. There were so many parties that were hosted by celebrities that it would have been impossible to attend all of them. The parties that I attended I had no complaints. It was good that I didn't have to go far to have fun because I was able to be in my room at a reasonable time to get ready for the
All -Star game the next day.

Leading up to the All-Star game I didn't know if I would start or not. During walk through I was told I would start. I could play it cool and say I really didn't care if I started or not, but I did. When I heard that I was starting I was really excited. I had a pretty good game but wanted more playing time. I had 14pts in 23 minutes, but its an All-Star game and playing time is always in the air.  Another down fall was that we lost the game. Going into the game I wanted us to win and I wanted to be named MVP. (Things don't always go the way you want them to, but what else can you do, but move on).  After our game we had a basketball clinic with young kids. Any one who knows me know that I love doing things like this. Anytime
I can help out young kids I am with it. To me it's Therapeutic. After the clinic was the  NBA Skills competition, 3pt Shootout, and the Slam Dunk contest. I got a chance to sit there and watch players like Chris Paul, Stave Nash, and Chauncey Billups. I also saw the best shooters in the world. Players like Dirk, Peje Stojakovic, and Jason Kapono. But what I was waiting for was the Slam Dunk contest. I saw Dwight Howard at halftime of my game and he told me that he was going to take it all. I couldn't go against him because I played with him in Orlando and saw some of the freakish dunks that he could do. After watching the contest it was one of the best contest in a long time. ( I am not sure if I felt that way because I was actually there or not). It was my favorite since Vince Carter went crazy a couple years ago.

The great thing about the weekend was seeing all of the NBA ALL-Stars. Guys that are my favorites like Allen Iverson, Kevin Garnett, Lebron James, and other guys that are  Hall of Famers such as Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Jason Kidd, just to name a few. I also got a chance to talk to David West for a long time. We both were happy to see each other and he was really excited about his first All-Star appearance. I can probably write for days about my experience in New Orleans at the All-Star break, but I will leave you with one thing. Seeing all of the stars made me hungrier to get to that next level so watch out for me in the upcoming weeks. I have a point to prove !!
