In the late 1990's Kenosha, WI became the first city in Wisconsin in over 50 years to install new trolley tracks in their city. This was to coincide with a lakefront renovation project the city started. Currently the city has 5 PCC cars. Apparently 3 of them are in use. The other 2 are in disrepair and need to be restored to running order.
On Friday Nov 24, 2000 myself and several friends drove to Kenosha to ride the trolley. The ride is about 15 minutes around a loop of track. The track runs close to the METRA station in Kenosha then heads east towards the lake. With a great view of the lake as it heads north the tracks then head west for the homestretch back to the start. The fare for the trolley is 25 cents. There is usually only one car running per day. Except for special events.
