Industrial Switchers in the Milwaukee Area
Well, Unfortunately the number of companies that have their own switchers is shrinking everyday.  I guess it is the day of the car puller.  There are still a few companies in Milwaukee that have there own switchers.  Below are pictures of some of those switchers.

All the photos below were taken by myself  Keith Schmidt in April 2001
This switcher is owned by the Milwaukee Metro Sewer District. So you might say it is the "Crappiest" switcher in the area.  These photos were taken in April 2001.  The switcher is seen working on Jones Island which is Milwaukee's Harbor. It is also the home of the sewer treatment plant.  The sewer plant is also the home of Milorganite, Milwaukee's claim to fame in the fertilizer market.
These photos show the switchers used at the Burcyrus-Erie plant in South Milwaukee.  Unfortunately the day that I took these pictures the loco was not positioned in a very good spot.  But as you can see there is more than one switcher parked inside the fence.

These are about the only two industries in Milwaukee that have there only switchers.
I realize that the UP is not an industrial switcher but the train is switching industries and they even have a caboose.  This is the daily "Marsh Job" that switches local industries on Milwaukee near southeast side and Jones Island.
