Great Circus Train July 2002
Steam Returns to the Circus Train
In July 2002 the Great Circus Train made its annual run to Milwaukee. This year again hosted by the Wisconsin Southern Railroad the train added something that hadn't been seen in over 10 yrs.  STEAM ENGINE
The SOO 1003 provided the power to pull the train on its final day.  .
Initially pulled by the elegant WSOR E-units the Circus Train crosses the Fox River just outside of Edgerton, WI. July 7, 2002.
Of course the main draw of the Circus Train are the beautifully restored Circus wagons.  These wagons will appear in the Great Circus Parade in Milwaukee.
Soo 1003 sits at Hartford waiting to back down to the Circus Train to takes it turn at heading up the train.

Soo 1003 looks good as it pulls the Circus Train through the small Wisconsin town of Rubicon just west of Hartford.
On Monday July 8, 2002 Soo 1003 is now heading the Circus Train south towards Milwaukee.  Here is rolls through the quiet crossing of Butler Road just south of Horicon, WI
The Circus Train ends like all good trains should end with a Caboose.  The Circus World caboose is an ex-CNW painted in a brilliant scheme for Circus World Museum.
Soo 1003 continues southbound here at Rugby Jct.  The crowds trackside are bigger than normal with the steam engine pulling the train.  July 8, 2002
