| Going Home The days pass slowly one by one I can hardly wait until the day That I'm going to make my journey To a special place, far away The train pulls into the station I'm leaving my loved ones behind I'm going to see my mother Thoughts of her filling my mind Many years have passed for her and I Since the day we were torn apart But a part of her always remained In a special place in my heart I do not know what awaits us As the whistle blows through another town There are still many miles between us I think of her as the sun goes down Darkness falls, but my eyes will not sleep My heart beats faster every mile I close my eyes for a moment I hear her voice, I see her smile No one will ever know how long I've waited For this day to finally come When the searching would be over And I would finally find my Mom The night is long and quiet The longest night I've ever known The day has come, my greatest wish came true I'm finally going home. written January 2003 |
