Until Darkness Turns to Dawn When the last glimpses of sunlight fade And stars shine like diamonds in an ebony sky I lay awake frightened of what I cannot see And wait for the shadows to pass by Why am I afraid I asked the Lord one night What is it that scares me so? I've been this way for quite some time And I'd really like to know The Lord in answer, shone a light on the moon Giving off such a peaceful glow Stretching over the rooftop that led to my room Softly streaming through the glass below The moonlight crept into my room And filled my soul with enormous light Uncovering all the corners of darkness Gently carrying me through the night I realized that I was dreaming A dream so real and calm When I awoke and opened my eyes The darkness had turned to dawn The darkness still haunts my soul But its different now it seems Someone else is there beside me Spreading light into my dreams Now when I go to sleep at night I close my eyes, and the fear is gone Someone is watching over me Until darkness turns into dawn. |
