Welcome to My Pet Page
In Loving Memory of
BAXTER
June 1988- July 2000
This is the story of Baxter.
In June of 1988 my husband and I were  married.  And as a wedding gift, a friend of ours gave us some money.  Our first intent was to get a cocker spaniel with the money, however we had a hard time finding one.  So we looked in the paper and found a family that had puppies to give away.  We went and checked them out  and brought home the cutest one.
He was part Beagle and part Rat Terrior.  He had more of a Beagle look to him.  We treated him like he was our baby - and for a while he was our baby.  He was a very comical dog.  One of the most endearing tricks he did  was to sit on his hind legs with his front paws up in the air.  I know that it was just him begging, but that is one of the things he did that will always remind me of him.  Baxter liked to sleep in our bed, when he was a small pup, he would sleep at the top of the bed, and as the years progressed he made his way to the bottom of the bed.  He was a very good foot warmer.   Eventually we had children, I was worried that Baxter would become jealous of them.  But he didn't, he was very protective of my girls.
To make a long story short.
He spent many years with us, but became sick in July of 2000.  There was nothing we could do for him.  Our only choice was to have him put to sleep.  That was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do.  It was like loosing a child.
We miss him dearly and love him so much.  If you have pets then you know what I'm talking about.  They have a way of burying themselves in your heart and leaving a definite impression.

Good bye Baxter
