The Five Precepts

Panatipata veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami

I undertake to observe the precept of abstaining from destroying the life of sentient beings.

Adinnadana veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami

I undertake to observe the precept of abstaining from taking what is not given to me.

Kamesu micchacara veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami

I undertake to observe the precept of abstaining from sexual misconduct.

Musavada veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami

I undertake to observe the precept of abstaining from false speech.

Kamesu micchacara veramani sikkhapadam samadiyami

I undertake to observe the precept of abstaining from intoxicants and drugs that cause heedlessness.
