Polyphenols |

There are about eight thousand occuring polyphenols. Polyphenols are plant substances possesing an aromatic ring containing one or more hydroxyl groups. The majority of polyphenols are water-soluble and occur naturally with sugar. They are found within the plant cell in the central vacuole. |

Flavanoids |
|
|
|
Of the eight thousand polyphenols about half of them are flavanoids. Flavanoids have closley related chemical structures based on the C15 heterocyclic nucleus of flavone, they vary in the number of phenolics. |
