The Great Kat was born Katherine Thomas in Swindon,
England and at the age of 3, moved to the U.S. After listening to Beethoven
since birth, The Great Kat realized that her mission was to become a
composer and musical revolutionary. Kat began Classical piano studies at the
age of seven, and Classical violin studies at the age of nine in New York.
At 15 years old, The Great Kat was accepted to the prestigious Juilliard
School of Music in New York City as a scholarship student on violin.
Kat has won numerous violin competitions in Classical Music, including
"The Artists International Competition." Kat also toured as a
violin soloist in Mexico, the U.S. and Europe and debuted as a violin soloist
at Carnegie Recital Hall.
After realizing that Classical Music was "DEAD", The Great Kat
discovered Metal Music and began updating Classical Music
with Speed Metal. Kat began transcribing intricate violin solos to the guitar
and thereby creating "SHRED/CLASSICAL" Music: Fast,
Furious and NON-STOP Virtuosity.
The Great Kat is the only musician taking authentic Classical Music scores (Vivaldi, Beethoven, Bach, Wagner, Liszt, Rossini) and reorchestrating them with Shred Guitar virtuosity. The Great Kat's music is known for its phenomenal speeds, complicated Classical Motives, Counterpoint Layering, guitar riffs, maniacal screams, heavy rhythms and thrashing sounds.
The Great Kat is now on a mission to bring Shred/Classical Music to the ENTIRE WORLD through the use of MIDI and LIVE instruments, computer technology and the INTERNET!
