All the full timers at work get so defensive when something goes wrong.
One in particular says, "It's not my fault!" at least once a day. It's really
annoying. Like, one time I was walking to the freezer and I saw a box of
salt packets lying on the ground. One of the full timers was standing near
it and they said, "I didn't even touch it, I was just standing there and
it fell! I didn't do it!" God, who gives a fuck? I'm just going to the freezer.
I didn't even ask about it. Employees aren't the only ones who do it though.
This old east indian guy was paying for a meal using debit. So I swipe the
card, punch in the cost, and then give him the pad. When he hands it back
to me, the screen says, "PIN Error" meaning that the PI number was punched
in wrong. Honest mistake. I hand the pad back to the guy and tell him that
he'll have to do it again, and he says, "The card was swiped wrong."
Why? Why would he decide to say something like that? I mean, it's not like
I was accusing him of being wrong or anything. And even if I did, it WAS
his mistake. Why would he try to blame such a trivial accident on me?
