Karma Bliss started out in 1999. At that time they were called R.i.F.F. and played aggressive, fast grunge rock. The line-up was: Guitar, vocals and songwriter: Karim Theilgaard Drums: Jess Nielsen Bass: Anders Jakobsen
Their best songs are the angry, all-out rocker "System Failure" and the acoustic "Missed" and their first song, the angst ridden "E:142"
R.i.F.F. split up in March of 2000 because of internal differences but Karim was quick to piece together a new band by the new name of Karma Bliss featuring Jakob Nielsen on bass, second guitar and back-up vocals. Jakob was instrumental in shaping the groove of Karma Bliss. On drums and keyboard was Andreas Lau who played in the melodic metal band "Kami." The greatest drummer Karma Bliss ever had. Together they released the single "Dissection" with "Missed" on the b-side. Unfortunately, Andreas left the band in August 2000. In October Lennart Vidbjrg joined the band on 6-string-bass and Mikkel on drums. Jakob now played lead guitar. They had their first performance one week later featuring a "plugged" version of the new song "Razor Friend" which was to become quite a hit in the following weeks. This was also the last performance with Jakob. Losing Jakob was a severe blow to Karma Bliss and Karim especially. In November, Christian Jensen joined the band on Piano/keyboard/percussion and back-up vocals. Gradually Karma Bliss found their own unique sound. From the hard, power chords of R.i.F.F they evolved to the melodic progressive rock that defines them today. |
