Le conversation ideologique..
So, every person in life has an ideology (whether he/she chooses to accept that is irrelevant). Whether you believe in God or believe there is no God or believe that God is a tree or believe that you don't have time to have an opinion about God.. All those beliefs formulate your idelogies in life. And once you have ideologies then you have a game plan.

And so, from my belief in God and my acceptance of Islam as the way of life, the following ideologies summarize my game plan:
My game plan. (:-)
Some Modern Ideologies:
Abul Aala Al-Maududi (Jamaah Islamiyah)
Sayed Qotb (Ikhwan)
Hassan Al-Banna (Ikhwan)
Mohammed Ilyas (Tabligh)
1) The Islamic ideal. The Islamic ideal for me is an Islamic state that is filled with good people. It is the state described by Prophet Mohammad's vow that Islam will be victorious to the point where the yound maiden will leave Iraq going to Makkah fearing not for her life, her honor nor her money. This ideal is not based on the fact that all Muslims will be wealthy beyond need, but that the overwhelming majority of  Muslims will be good Muslims to the point where they will find content. Because content is really what it takes to find security and safety. The rich steal as much as the poor (see Enron), the rich kill as much as the poor (see Hitler or Saddam) but the pious do not steal or kill even if they were really poor.

2) Therefore, my objective is to get people to be as good as they can be. I know that every human has choice and has the ability to be good or bad. There are no evil humans by nature or good humans by nature. You make yourself as good or as bad as you are right now through your willingness to obey God.

3) My way of doing it is to be that which you preach. Granted, I am still far from the Prophet's ideal, but I believe that you can lead others to change much quicker if they can see it before them. If they can see that what you are calling for is not as bad as their own greed and inhibitions are leading them to believe.

4) In addition to working on yourself, you have to reach out to others. The entire ideology of a "saved" minority avoiding the "misguided" or "evil" majority is sickening to me. You have to keep mingling with the people, you have to keep practicing righteousness on a daily basis. Being pious at home and greedy and wicked at work does not work for me. You have to wear your faith around as a glove. You practice what you preach all the time. You don't cuss all the time, not just in front of the kids. You don't cheat all the time, not just when you can get caught. You give charity all the time, not just when you feel like it.

5) Keep working on the fundamentals. There is no short way to success. No basketball player can excel without attending practice. Likewise, you cannot be a good Muslim without doing the basics. Keep trying to pray at the mosque, keep trying to pray night prayer, keep trying to fast extra days every month. Keep trying to learn how to read Quran correctly. Keep studying and reading religious books in your spare time. You cannot "skip" learning and you cannot skip basic practices of Islam. The Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) was not above doing those daily practices (and actually looked forward to doing them) then we should try to cultivate them as he did.

That's my game plan. (:-)
