Hogsmeade House

Australia's Best Source for Harry Potter

Hogsmeade Village

Welcome to the home of Hogsmeade House. Here you'll find some of the finest shops in the wizard world in the only all wizard village in Britain. After all we do boast the best butterbeer this side of the Atlantic! Relax at The Three Broomsticks (you might even get Madam Rosmerta to let you in on the secrets of Butterbeer), stroll along to the Shrieking Shack for a creaky old time (although it is kinda spooky) and roll up to Dervish and Banges for all your hardware needs, after all you are going to need that broom fixed. You can't come riding along with us forever!

N.B Hogwarts students don't think you can hitch a ride into Hogsmeade with us. Sneaky little devils you! Permission must be granted from a parent/guardian and you've got to be in 3rd Year so no fake siggy's!

Zonko's Joke Shop
Come here for all your pranking needs! The best gadgets for the world's most cunning tricks.

The Three Broomsticks
This little Inn often very crowded, noisy and smoky but all the same very warm (especially in winter) makes the best Butterbeer this side of the Atlantic…and the Pacific…and the Indian…anyways. I had me a little chat with Madam Rosmerta and with some reluctance she's agreed to tell you all how to make her famous Butterbeer. Here it is:

Ingredients
Butter
Ginger Beer

Instructions
1. Heat the butter in the microwave until it is nearly melted.
2. Slightly heat the ginger beer.
3. Stir them together.

Variations
Stir the butter into ginger ale or add cream to the mixed butter and gingerbeer.
That's all I could get out of her so do the best you can with it. Enjoy! Personally I think Butterbeer served with anzac biscuits is a delicacy. Anyways, moving right along.

Other drinks served here include Firewhisky, gillywater and mulled mead topped off with umbrellas and onions on sticks! There are tables, booths and mirror over the bar.

Honeydukes
Shelves upon shelves of the most succulent looking sweets imaginable, no one will want to leave this store. Creamy chunks of nougat, shimmering pink squares of coconut ice, fat, honey-coloured toffees…mmm…what more could you ask for!? Do you like Every Flavour Beans? Buy them. Don't think. Just buy them ;) I recommend Fizzing Whizbees. Levitating sherbet balls they are. A real highlight to the shop is the "Special Effects" sweets. Some of the tamer varieties include Droobles Best Blowing Gum, its blue bubbles fill the room for days because it takes days for them to pop! Toothflossing Stringmints are a favourite with the kids. Show your parents that you do floss! Pepper Imps let you breathe fire to your friends. That's a great party trick. Ice Mice actually hop in your stomach. Great for the digestive system! And if you get a chance, try the sugar-spun quills and the exploding bonbons. If you've got an unusual taste then try the blood-flavoured lollipops a delicacy with vampires and even Cockroach Clusters, no guessing what they're about. Have fun but remember always brush your teeth twice a day or else they'll rot and you'll never be able to have Fizzing Whizbees again! Oh no!

It's owners, a husband and his wife, live above the shop. In the basement of the store there is a trapdoor which leads back in Hogwarts. It is not only famous for its wide variety of sweets but it's enormous home made blocks of chocolate and fudge.

Dervish and Banges
Come here to get all your wizarding equipment or even to get some of it fixed. Now, what was I saying about your broom?

Shrieking Shack
One of the more…interesting attractions at Hogsmeade it's definitely worth seeing but I wouldn't go in there. The windows are completely boarded up. Outside the house is a dank, overgrown garden. All the entrances are sealed. The Hogwarts ghosts believe it is home to a "rough crowd". Even Fred and George don't know how to get in! It is reputed as the most haunted house in Britain. Legend has it that it's been haunted for decades (people used to hear terrifying screams and other noises from the shack which helped to lend it its name) but the truth is…well…the shack has been silent for years but its reputation lives on..oh...so you still want the truth? You might not be able to handle the truth but try Book 3 for it anyway.

Post Office
Here you can send all your wizard mail via owl…or howler if you so desire. Send postcards to your friends and let them know how your holiday in Hogsmeade is going.

Gladrags Wizardwear
Sells clothes for witches and wizards. Stores in London and Paris. Of note, is its strange sock collection available for purchase.

Madam Puddifoot's
Owned by Madam Puddifoot, it is located down a side road off the High Street. It is a small, cramped, steamy teashop that is decorated with a lot of frills and bows. On Valentine's Day Madam Puddifoot decorates her store with golden cherubs who hover over the small, circular tables, occasionally throwing pink confetti.

Scrivenshaft's Quill Shop
Located on the High Street, it sells a whole range of quills including the high quality black and gold pheasant feather quills. Nice!

The Hog's Head
Up a side street off the High Street is the small, dingy, dirty, goat smelling room of the Hog's Head pub. A battered wooden sign hangs from rusty bracket over the door with a picture of a wild boar's severed head, leaking blood onto the white cloth around it. The pub's bay windows are encrusted with grime so that very little daylight ever permeates the room. It is lit instead with stubs of candles sitting on rough wooden tables. The floor appears to look like compressed earth but it is in fact stone underneath centuries of dirt. This place isn't popular but you can be sure to have a quiet drink away from the crowds but you might want to bring your own glasses.
