Note, that flying/displaying the flag upside-down is acceptable under "distress", but adding images to the flag is considered bad form. Here's an excerpt from the US Flag Code relevant to this graphic:

"Sec 4. (g) The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature."
