My budget Home Theatre...
As you can see the setup is very straight forward. Plonk the LCD panel on the overhead projector which in turn is plonked on an
old small table. The DVD is connected to the LCD panel via the S-Video connector. Turn the lot on, wait a short while for the
overhead projector to get to full power. Turn down the lights, sit back and enjoy the movies. Where's the popcorn?
The result...
And with the flash on to give the screen size compared to the room and the 59cm Sony Wega TV.
At the moment I am only using the undercoat of the wall to display movies. Still to experiment further with blockout cloth or that popular plastic panel known as Plas-Tex. Not sure how much it is going to cost to get out here to Australia from America. Also unsure if it is available at all here in Australia. Currently investigating. But the important factor for all of this is that the wife is very happy. She has always wanted a movie style setup. And the best bit is that it didn't cost an arm and a leg. I was wanting a DLP but it was to cost prohibative. And the LCD projectors don't look as good for the cost of them.

Overhead Projector - Buhl 109
DESCRIPTION BUHL's 109 Metal Halide Portable Overhead Projector is designed for use with LCD panels. It has a super bright Metal Halide lamp that gives it plenty of oomph to get through an LCD panel. It is supposedly cool running but it feels pretty hot to me. The fan is a squirrel cage type and is quite quiet for the amount of air it moves. It came in a nice padded case as the unit folds down to about half it's main body height. Makes it a bit easier to move around. The post sits snuggly into the cover lid and acts as another handle when in place. The details of the lamp; OSRAM HMI 575W/GS Luminous Efficacy in lm/W 85 Operating voltage in Volts 95 Rated current in Amps 7.0 Rated wattage in Watts 575 Luminous output in lumen 49000 Color temperature in Kelvin 6000 Arc length in mm 7 Diameter in mm 21 Electrode gap cold in mm 7 Length in mm 115 Average lamp life in hours 1000 hours Operating position universal
