Here are the photos of our travels:
Geography
We are all friends and we live in different parts of Civitanova: Civitanova Porto and Civitanova Alta. Civitanova Porto is on the coast and Civitanova Alta is the oldest part of the city and it's on a hill at about 3km from the sea, surrounded by walls. Civitanova is a little city of at least 40.000 inhabitants, so if you are looking for a metropolitan city you should not considerate it. But if you would like a city not too small and not too big you have found your holiday.
Culture
We have a little park where you can see a pretty house in Liberty stile:
"Villino Conti", that is quite famous for the ones interested
in art..
Civitanova it's the city of Annibal Caro (see
this link ), but we live near Recanati too, the city of Giacomo Leopardi
(link
to G.Leopardi).
Shopping
We're
on the Adriatic sea, east coast of Italy, you can find it at 50km on the
south from Ancona. In summer there are several people in the streets,
early in the morning, or late at night, but in winter the city is quite
silent. However every saturday morning, in the centre, we have the biggest
market of our region (Marche), were you can find everything, expecially
shoes, because this region of Italy is famous for them: we have Tod's
(it's in a small city near Civitanova) and Paciotti, and a lot of families
design and produce shoes of high quality here.
Moreover in our region you can taste Varnelli, a liquor that comes from
ANICE, and Borghetti, another liquor, that comes from coffee.
We can't say that Civitanova is cheap, but we have our economics shops
too, you need to know where to buy.
Sports
From a year we have a ciclabile track (if it's the right word) where you
can have a trip of 4 km with your bike (Ciccionz can lend you one).
Because of we live near the sea you can admire the fishing boats that
come back home with the dawn behind them.
If you have a car there are a lot of places you can visit, in the cities
near Civitanova, like the little lake of Fiastra and more..
Late at night
You can drink our wines and liquor in our pubs, the most frequented are 3; we have the Babaloo near us, that is one of the most beautiful disco in Italy, because it's between a beach and a lake. in summer we have a little luna park too There are to many things to say, you should be here...
Our events
February/March -> Carnevale, we dance in the streets and we
go to the discos, looking the masks
25 April: Liberation Day -> we spend it doing a pic nic, or
visiting green places (like waterfalls, lakes..)
1st May: Day of Workers -> nobody works, pic-nic and barbecue
for this day too
about 10 May: Sword Fest ->
a party full of students, on a hill, surrounded by the wall of a castle
(city of Camerino)
first days of June -> artists in the street, like a circus in
the city of Pennabilli
first days of July -> artists in the street, like a little circus
in the city of Colmurano
first days of August -> Montelago Celtic Night, in the heart
of our region, far from the cities, surrounded by hills, with music, magic,
fantasy world, kilts and beer (city of Sefro)
31 December -> Halloween night (city of Corinaldo)
People
We can't say that our area is the best in hosting travellers...people that live in Marches are very diffident, while people living in Civitanova are very chic and interesting in fashion...althought they were very poor not so long time ago
Transports
public
transportation it's ok, we have a web of autobus, a train station and
a boat that can bring you to Croatia, if you want.
We are linked to the A14, the freeway from Bologna to Taranto and to the
superhighway that goes to the west coast of Italy, to Rome. There is an
autobus called RomaMarche, it costs around 25€ and goes from Civitanova
to Rome and from Rome to Civitanova in a half 3 hours
I think that you can stay here from a week end to a week. If you have
a car, or money to travel by train/autobus you can stay more time, because
you can visit the near places...
