Artist Statement

Art for me has become a way of life. It is a very effective way to communicate emotions and concepts that cannot be expressed through words. I feel this communication is best when one's work is spiritually and emotionally sincere. The final results grow out of the process of painting.

The content of my work develops primarily by examining the nature of the human condition, and man's relationship to his environment. In the course of each persons life there are events, moments, and experiences which are unique and memorable. Eternal forces join with internal forces, thoughts, emotions, and the imagination, to form a personal and singular reality for that person. My work is an explosion of my own reality and vision.

Working in a variety of mediums, an interest developed in expressing my ideas in a variety or combination of mixed media, most recently intermingling watercolor, collage, charcoal, pastel, as well as handmade paper.

Biographical

I am a native of Germany and studied Art in both Germany and the United States. I received my Master of Fine Arts in painting and printmaking from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL. I served as Art Instructor and Gallery Director at Mississippi State University, Starkville, MS. I now reside in Valdosta, GA, and am a faculty member of Valdosta State University's Art Department.

I have a broad and varied art background, have owned and operated my own gallery, and have directed numerous exhibitions and festivals. My work has been presented in both group and solo exhibitions at the state, regional, and national level.
