While a support meeting meets the needs of many women, some mothers need a one-on-one, hands-on consultation in their home. Mothers usually seek help either because breastfeeding is painful or because their baby is not satisfied after nursing. Some are just unsure of what is “normal” and need a little help and answers to their many questions.

What happens during a consultation?

My lactation home visits usually last approximately 2 hours to ensure my education and instructions are fully understood and can be done with ease and confidence. I carry a full line of Medela's breastpumps and breastfeeding supplies. Some insurance is accepted. I use the Lactation Superbill which most insurance companies are now accepting for reimbursement. At an initial consultation, I will:

*Review positioning and latch-on technique

*Observe the baby breastfeeding

*Identify the cause(s) of any problems

*Develop a plan to resolve the difficulties

*Go over ways to help you enjoy breastfeeding

* Help you to Get off to a good start and preventing any common problems

* Make sure you know how to be sure your baby is getting enough

*How to know when breastfeeding is not going well

*Pumping and storing breastmilk

*Returning to work

*Weaning

*As well as many other SECRETS to coping with a new baby in the family.
