So please consider playing Youngstown on KDWB, Lily finished her letter to Rob Morris. Lily was a member of the Street Team for the up and coming music group Youngstown. In hopes of Youngstown being played on the local radio station, KDWB, she was writing and email to the programming director, Rob Morris. After sending the email, she got off the computer to call Meredith, who was the Street Team leader. Lily told Meredith what she had written, and both of the girls hoped Rob would consider playing Youngstown. The next day, Lily went online to check her email. Since Rob had wrote her back, Lily clicked on it to read what he had to say.

Dear Lily- Hello and thank you for informing me on this band called Youngstown. However, Someone begging me to play something does not work. What gets me to play an artist is a record label asking me to, even paying me to. Sorry to disappoint you. -Rob Morris

Paying you to play a song? Thats total bribery, Lily said to no one in particular. And I was not begging, at least not on purpose. And you dont sound very sorry. Lily was quick to reply to Robs message, telling him everything she had just said to herself.

A few hours later, Lily went online again. And, Rob had written back. He wrote that the only way hell listen to her is if she came down to the studio and told it to his face. Fine, then thats exactly what Ill do, Lily thought as she began to write another email. Im accepting your offer, and will be coming to the studio tomorrow, Lily wrote to Rob Morris. Ill be there around 6:30 p.m., ready to talk about Youngstown being played on KDWB. After sending the email, Lily noticed that Meredith was also online. Lily wrote to her, telling Meredith what she was doing tomorrow, and inviting her to come with. Meredith wanted to go, but couldnt because of a very important meeting she must attend. So, Meredith couldnt go with Lily to talk with Rob Morris.

The next day flew by for Lily, who was now entering the building, which held the KDWB studios. She began to go down the hall where the studios were, when a security guard stopped her. He told Lily she needed a pass to enter. Lily was trying to think of an excuse to get through, when Rob Morris himself showed up. Hello, you must be Lily, he said. She nodded yes. Lily took a second to take a good look at Rob. He was about her height, wearing glasses, and had longish brown hair. Seeing that Rob knew who she was, the security let her pass through. As they passed by the studio towards Robs office, Lily looked inside to see Scotty Davis, one of KDWBs DJs, working. She purposely picked the time of her visit to be the same time Scotty would be working.

Would you like to say hi? Rob asked Lily when he saw her looking in. Lily was quick to answer yes. So, Rob opened the studio door to let her in. Scotty, we have a visitor, He said to announce their presence. Scotty turned away from the computer and microphone to see who it was. Scotty was your basic Eminem look-a-like. He was wearing baggy clothes, and a baseball cap worn backwards on his head. He knew who Lily was almost instantly, because Rob had been saying how some girl was coming to talk about Youngstown being played. Someone else working there poked his head in, telling Rob they needed to speak with him for a moment. Rob had Lily stay in the studio with Scotty while he was gone.

Scotty waited until Rob was out of sight, and gave Lily a big grin before turning back to the microphone to introduce the next song. Lily could tell he was up to something. Hey everybody, I have a special guest in the studio with me right now, he told everyone listening. Shes here to talk to my boss about playing her favorite music group, Youngstown, Lily was extremely happy that Scotty mentioned Youngstown on the air. She decided that even if she doesnt get Rob Morris to let them be played on the radio, at least Youngstown was mentioned on the air. But, Lily didnt know what Scotty was going to do next.

Now, I actually knew who they were before Lily became involved, and even got their CD. Let me tell ya, their pretty good, ya know, for being a boyband and stuff, Lily didnt like the term boyband, but never the less, was excited by the fact that Scotty knew who Youngstown were, and actually liked them. There is one song on their CD I liked in particular, called Pedal to the Steel. In fact, I like it so much, I think Ill play it right now. Lily couldnt believe what was happening, as Youngstown started to play on the radio. After a second of shock, Lily quickly ran over to Scotty, gave him a hug, and thanked him a million times or more. Just then, an angry looking Rob Morris came storming in.

What do you think youre doing?! He barked, stopping all rejoicing in its tracks. In my office, both of you, IMMEDIATELY! With a frown, Scotty slowly walked to Robs office, with Lily following close behind. They sat down in front of his desk, and Rob came in, and sat down behind it. He took a deep breath, and let it out slowly to calm himself down a bit before talking. Now Scotty, Rob began, You know what happens when you break the rules, and play a song youre not supposed to play, right?

Yes, Scotty said with a slight sigh. You could be fined, or possibly suspended from work.

Correct. And this isnt the first time you have broken the rules, Rob informed. Lily glanced at Scotty, and all he did was give a sheepish smile. Now, before I let you off with a warning, but this has happened too many times without punishment. Thats why Im suspending you for the next three days.

Okay, I guess thats fair, Scotty said. Rob then began to talk to Lily.

Now Lily, you must stop begging me to play Youngstown. All the pleading in the world wont change my mind, and thats just how it is. Lily looking at Rob in disappointment. I must be going now, I have lots to do besides having to deal with the two of you. And with that said, Rob left the room. Scotty and Lily sat there in silence.

Im sorry Scotty, I feel as if its my fault you got suspended, Lily said after a few moments of silence. Scotty looked at her with and smile.

No its not, I had it coming to me, Scotty told Lily with a slight laugh. Besides I would have played Youngstown eventually anyway. Their music is too good to not allow other people to hear it.

I totally agree with you, and wish Rob Morris did too. Songs should be played because theyre good, not because a record label is paying you to. The two were so busy talking, they didnt even notice Rob Morris standing in the doorway, listening.

You know, you right, Rob said, walking into the room. Both Lily and Scotty looked over to Rob, waiting to hear what he says next. It should be about talent, not money. Thank you for making me realize that.

Does that mean you will allow Youngstown to be played from now on? Lily asked, standing up.

Looks like I have to, he answered. Our phones are ringing off the hook, asking about the song Scotty played.

See, sometimes its good to get in trouble, Scotty said as he also stood up.

Yes, maybe it does, Rob said, but youre still suspended for three days.

Dang, was all Scotty said, but he said it in such a way it made Lily laugh.

Thank you Rob for deciding to play Youngstown, Lily told Rob. Thats what I came here for, and Im very happy that you decided to give them a chance.

Youre welcome. And thank you again for making me realize what matters most, He replied. They shook hands to show that all was forgiven. Then, Lily turned to Scotty.

And thank you Scotty for playing Youngstown, even though you knew you would get in trouble for it, Lily said, put her hand out to be shaken. But, instead of shaking her hand, Scotty gave her a hug.

No problem, playing good music is my job, he whispered in her ear. After a few more minutes of talking, everyone went his or her separate ways. Lily was going home to tell Meredith and everyone else about what had happened, Scotty was going home to sleep since he was suspended for the next three days, and Rob went to answer the infinite amount of phone calls they were still getting about Youngstown.
