The Change Part II

I would have screamed if the hand wasn't in my mouth. He turned me around and looked me directly in the eyes. I wanted to run, or scream, or do anything but I couldn't. I couldn't even move, for that matter. Then, he moved back, turned, and started talking.

"Ahhh, my poor, poor child. What you have become, you don't understand. My name, is Lucian. I am, and have been, what you have just recently become. A vampire as you know us. The one who turned you, he unfortunatly did not realize his error. He has paid for the loss of your life with his." He said. All of the time he was talking, I was trying to move, unsucessfully. Then out of no where, he snapped his fingers and I regained mobility. I didn't feel the need to run anymore. No fear, just interest. I'm never scared very easily, so this was nothing new.

"Oh my god. That would explain so much," I said to he and myself.

"Ah, good boy. You don't show fear. I like that."

"I don't see why I should be. If you wanted to kill me, I would have been dead already," I said. "So I am a vampire? I wish I could get my hands on that bastard. I had...well, not a lot, but some stuff going for me."

"That's good. Since your creator didn't have the jevos to inform you on what you are suposed to do, I will take that liberty on to myself. You will break off your human ties. At least, those who know you as human.....After that, it is your choice."

"WHAT!? I can't do that! I'm only 15! I have friends. A girlfriend! Family! It's impossible to disapear now. Look, maybe I can figure a way to go on with my life, or whatever, and keep this a secret," I said.

"You don't understand, do you? You CAN'T go on with your life. You can't even go in the sunlight. I haven't for the last 58 years. If I did, I would burn into nothing! Your lucky I cought you now. In 5 hours, you would be a pile of dust on your bed next to your window sill. How do you expect to go on like your still human?"

"Stop SAYING that! I'm still human. Im just...I don't know, different. Im still breathing. Im not dead," I tried to convinced myself.

"The only reason your breathing is is that your not adjusted to the change, and you think you have to. Try holding your breath. You'll be suprised," He said. "Now, what is your name, young one?"

"Brian, Brian Darian. I don't care if Im dead or alive," I said, now a little more convinced after holding my breath despite my intentions not to. "I just can't break off everything. I'll figure something out."

"You better, otherwise I can't help you if your dead. One thing I insist you do is keep this whole thing between us two, and maybe a few of or own kind, but NO mortals.

"Another thing: How do you intend on feeding?"

"Ugh...don't remind me about that," I said, feeling a little sick...suprisingly not as much as I thought I would.

He snorted. "Oh, please! It's one of the best parts!" (insert sarcasm here) "Well, I guess it's my duty to teach you in this field......"

We went out and he tought me evrything basic I needed to know to survive. I found out I was bitten by a vampire of this clan named "Gangrel" or something, and that I had special abiliies, but needed blood to sustain me. I was tested this first night to see which abilities, or what he called "disciplines", I had. I didn't make much progress, but I was certainly amazed by what I could do what he considered simple. I learned how to grow claws (my favorite), talk to certain types of animals, withstand much force that would usually KILL me, which he said was my strongest so far. I also found out how I ran so fast, was because of this thing, celerty, or celerity or somthing like that which let me run about 35 miles an hour average. He even took me to a near by cemetary, and shot me in the gut with an 8-guage (while scaring the shit out of me at the same time).

That morning, I came home, about 5:20 am. I got in bed, closed the shades, and hoped to God my parents wouldn't notice anything. Fortunately, I slept late as a mortal, so they didn't bother me. That is, untill around 2:00 pm.

"Hey, wake up! Come on, we're goin over to Robert Crown Center to meet up with a few friends...toke up, skate, the usual..." My brother. He's a year and a half older, and the meaning of the term "Skater Pothead". Not to say that I wasn't one. I wasn't one exactly, but I was pretty close. I don't have a group. I'm sort of the guy who knows everyone, and doesn't stand in one crowd...That's why everyone calls me Jay (If you've ever seen the movie "Mallrats, Clerks, or Chasing Amy, you know who Im talking about). I sort of look like him, act like him a little, and sound exactly the same, so it's accually pretty accurate.

"Hey, shut the fuck up, I'm tired. I'll sit this one out," I said from under the blankets.

"Come on, either you come with, or you have to go do all your fucking homework. Don't ask me why, but thats what Mom and Dad said. Anyway, Christina's going to be there, so you should have something to do if you don't waana get stoned"

"What the hell does going out and homework have to do with each other? Oh well, forget it. Maybe my presence will attract some girls, so you can "impress" them with your skating. lets go...."(I've always been a magnent for the girls around this park, don't ask me why). Just then I remembered that the sun was going to be a major problem. I looked out the nearest open window. I sighed in releif, seeing that the sky was a dull grey. I got dressed, and left out the door. This strange, burning came over me. Kind of like if you jumped right into a whirlpool or hottub. I jumped back in the door, and looked at my arms. They were all red, but with little focus, and they went back to normal. I went up stairs and got my black trench-coat (kinda ironic, isnt it?) and my ROCK 103.5 hat, and left. The sun , even through the thick clouds, hurt a little, but I just kept a constant focus, and tought myself to maintained naturally.

"Hey, Joeseph! Wassudoin? Come on, I got this weird shit man. Ain't laced or anything, just pure sweet jeeba," Aaron said, not seeming to want to waist time. "Yo, Brian my man, no offence, but you look like shit! Damn, what happened?"

"I...I got mugged. And, I couldn't sleep well last night," I said, moving back a couple steps so I was in the shade. It always felt good to get out of the sun, but damn that felt good.

"Oooooh! You poor thing. Are you alright?" Christina said, over-hearing my story from the Coke machine. I nodded, with a grin, and she just gave a light laugh and kissed me. Kissing her and being in her arms, almost made me forget about the night before.

"Owch! Hey, what are trying to do, crazy bastard," she said with her beautiful light laugh, while breaking the kiss and pulling one hand to her mouth. I saw her fingers, and their tips were covered in blood. Apparently, I bit her on accident. I guess I need more control...

"Sorry, I guess it was an accident, I, uh..." I lost my track of mind while staring at this beautiful girl in my arms. I could feel her pulse, he very being, in my finger tips. Her blood must....NO! I fought that idea as hard as I could, breaking the trance.

"Are you sure your alright? you look a little pale today. Anyway, why'd you bite me for?" She said, giving me a playful slap.

"Well, I guess I was just nervous. I haven't seen you in a week."

"I wish we could go out, but I had those damn finals friday and I needed the study time."

"Why do you need to study? Just listen to what they're saying and pick it right up. Thats what I do." It was the truth too. I had never, not once in my life studied for a test or exam. The teacher said I had a high IQ (149, which isn't genius but fairly high), so thats why i could do that.

"Because it annoys you," She said, putting her arms back around me. "Anyway, where were we..."

We (Me, Christina, my brother Joe, and his friends Ben and Alex) sat out in the feild next to the skate ramps and spent the next 4 hours smoking this cigar Alex filled with weed and talking. I found out the down-side of vampirism: Lungs dont absorb anything, like smoke! Anyway, by the time it was getting dark out, Ben had went home, Joe and Alex were skating in the halfpipe, and Christina and I were still out in the field, having our own fun. Then, a shadow fell over us from the streetlamp. It was Lucian.

"I see you still refuse to break your ties," he said, smirking a little. Christina and I stood up to face him.

"Are we in your way?" She asked, sounding a little annoyed. He moved closer, looked her in the eyes, and she froze like I had before.

"Out in daylight hours I see. Your lucky. Your Fortitude is so strong, you could probobly withstand direct sunlight on your bare skin."

"Why did you freeze Christina? I said. I was pissed off at him, but I thought it best not to say anything more.

"I need to talk to you. You don't have a very strong wanderlust. It must be from your cretin of a creator. You can stay if you please, but you musn't tell anyone about this. If you think you can withstand being up night and part of the day, then go on. I'm leaving to Milwauki tomarrow, so I thought i'd help you out a little more before I depart."

"Thank you. One question: Can I tell just one, very trust-worthy person?" "You mean her, don't you. I don't know, let me see..." He went to Christina's statuesque figure, put one hand on each sie of her face, and looked into her eyes. After about 30 to 45 seconds, he let go, and said "She wouldn't be happy about it, but she would except it, eventually." He also told me to meet him back in the park at 2 am, after we got everyone home so he could tell me more. He took Christina out of the trance with no memory of him, and a few seconds after, so he could move away in time.

"So Brian, what do you have planned for tomarrow? Since I finished the finals, Im free to do as I please."

"Well, uhh...We'll see if you want to after this. I just have the strangest thing to tell you..."
