Sunday:
Today I took my guests for brunch at Indigo-- Gyeongju is a very
traditional Korean city, so they don't have a lot of the comforts of home
that I can have in Seoul. Western breakfast is definitely one of those
comforts. Mmm . . . frittata . . . After that I showed the girls where
I shop in Itaewon while the guys stood around looking bored, and then
we all went to Insadong for some souvenir shopping. We finally finished
the day at the foreign food mart, where Ava went crazy over the
Nutella, and Allison went crazy over the cheese section. All in all, a good
and laidback day, with fun guests! I will have to go Gyeongju soon.
In other news, Nate sprained his wrist last weekend, so he hasn't been
playing at all this week. Well, he tried to play today, and realized
that he still can't; so we're going to cancel our spot on the Rolling
Stones. I guess it's kind of too bad that Bamboo Wife couldn't put
together one last gig, but I'm not too disappointed either

Monday:
So tonight we had a professors meeting at the Seoul campus. Every
couple of years the Korean government ranks all the college and university
programs. This year, our school was selected to show what we've done
over the past 3 years. So they want show posters, books we've written,
CDs we've made, lectures and masterclasses we've taught, so on.
Ironically, I can't submit anything because a) there's not much to submit and
b)the reason there isn't much for me to submit is because it's ILLEGAL
for me to work outside of Paekche!!!! If I submit anything at all,
then they could potentially fine me for working illegally. Gah! Stupid
Korean bureacracy and its dumb catch 22s.

Thursday:
I went to Bricx tonight for Ladies Night (free drinks for girls!) and
to hang out with Korrenna before she takes off to Thailand for a month.
It was also nice to catch up with Annabelle, who is crazy busy not
only with the original tv show, but also with an additional English
education show that she's hosting now. Too bad that Korean television takes
forever and pays crap! And speaking of Korean television, I keep on
getting calls from a producer who wants me to be on a really cheesy
English program called Surprise. I really really do not want to be on tv,
and she really really doesn't seem to understand this!

Saturday:
Tonight was Joey and Helen's last Saturday night before going to Canada
for 3 weeks. That means that I'm going to be on my own for teaching
for the next 3 weeks! Scary! I got a little taste of it tonight--
there were way too many girls for the beginner class, so we ended up
splitting them up, and I taught a styling class just for the girls all by
myself. It went really well, but man, is it ever exhausting!
After class, I headed over to Hongdae for the Rolling Stones tribute
that Bamboo Wife would have been playing in had Nate not sprained his
wrist. The show was meant to raise money to buy bikes for a Korean
orphanage. When I found out that the Seoul World DJ Festival was the same
weekend, I was a little bit worried that no one would show up, but the
place was packed when I got there! We met our goal, and raised 1.6
million won to buy 15 bikes. I sang a verse on the last song of the night,
and therefore got free drinks for the rest of the night, so we stayed
at Freebird til closing, and then Summer and I invited a few people to
hang out on our rooftop. Nice night!
