Wednesday Dec 21,As I've probably mentioned several times by now, my
director, Sue, is opening a second school 2 floors up from my school. This school will be for slightly older students, and will have 3 new foreign teachers. This is especially good news for me, because I'm
losing 3 of my classes! Unfortunately, they are some of my favourite students, especially Sung Hyun and Kiara, but at least they're not going too far. Anyway, one of the foreign teachers arrived today, and
we weren't even told about it! She actually thought that there were no other foreigners in Korea, causethe only people she's seen so far have been Korean! And I can't believe that Sue didn't tell us that she
was coming today! Actually, because the new school is opening in a
couple weeks, everything is in disarray around here. I keep on getting roped into covering extra classes, because the Korean teachers keep on getting roped into doing extra stuff upstairs, and nobody is giving us
any information. I just found out today that I'm losing three classes.
The funk band played at open mic tonight at Commune, for the first time in a long time. Great vibe, massive crowd. I'm upset that the band isn't playing better by now, but at least it was high-energy enough
to hide our musical flaws.

Thursday Dec 22nd, After work today, Carey, Ryan, Lindsey and I all went upstairs to meet the new girl. Her name is Angela, and she is from New Zealand (welcome change from all the Canadians that Sue has hired in the past, we need to diversify!). She just spent 6 months in Sri Lanka volunteering, and now she's here! (I'm kind of jealous actually. I wanted to volunteer so badly!) Hyun Shik, the owner of Commune had asked Anna and Charlotte to plan a British Christmas party tonight, so I brought Linds and Ryan and Angela downtown to meet some more people. |

Saturday Dec 24th, I can't believe that it's Christmas Eve! It doesn't
feel Christmas-y at all. A lot of people get really homesick around this time of year, but I'm not feeling at all, because IT DOESN'T FEEL LIKE CHRISTMAS! I opened all of my presents sitting on my bed watching
tv, and I still didn't get the Christmas feeling.(side-note: thank you Mom for all the lovely presents!) A first: I've never had a gig on Christmas Eve before. Every Christmas Eve that I can remember was
spent at my parents' house, opening our presents together. But tonight, Daegu Tones (the funk band) had a pretty high-profile gig lined up at Pussycat. The place was packed, and there was a DJ on before us to get the crowd good and warmed up. I was so happy,
because all of the people who are important to me in Korea were there. It was so nice to have all of my friends out together! We played a really fun set, that was, again, musically sketchy, but high-energy
enough to compensate. Everyone was in too much of a "Christmas cheer" mood to care anyway.
