Sunday Oct 16th, I love travelling on my own! Go to bed when you want, eat when and where you want, see what you want to see.
I need to do this more often . . . Today, I went to the Korea War Museum. It's huge, and really interesting; the kind of museum that you need all day for. Most of the exhibits were really interactive, and I learned a lot about the war that I didn't know. I forget that Korea as an independent country is only about 55 years old, and that the older generation can still remember how it felt to be in the
middle of such devastation. It explains so many of their food customs (the more you eat the better), and their shopping habits (the more you consume the better) and so on. They remember how it feels to have nothing. As a young Canadian, I can't even begin to
understand that feeling. After the museum, I was pretty tired, especially since I hadn't really slept the night before, and I
didn't feel like shopping anymore, or sightseeing. So I headed over to the train station, and caught the KTX back to Daegu. It was an ideal weekend, and I think that there are a lot more solo trips in my near future!

Monday Oct 17th, I bit the bullet today, and went back to the pharmacy for yet another round of Korean drugs to kill this
cough. I just can't seem to shake it, and it's been a month now since I got back from Beijing, so it better work this time!
I'm looking forward to a slow week: no gigs, just rehearsals, and no set plans for the weekend; I can do whatever I want.

Tuesday Oct 18th, Tonight the funk band had our rehearsal at Commune instead of the practise space. I was worried that we
wouldn't have any privacy there, because of other patrons, but there was absolutely nobody there! Sometimes it's unbelievable to me that so many bars manage to stay open when often there is absolutely nobody in there. Hyun Shik, the owner of Commune is
one of the nicest people I have ever met, so it's good that we rehearse there on Tuesdays, cause at least then we can give him some business ourselves! The owners of Old Skool wanted the funk band to play every Wednesday there, but we appreciate Hyun Shik so much that we turned it down, because we don't want to compete with the open mic night.

Saturday Oct 22nd, With no plans for the night, we all decided to have a real party night, first one in a long time. It was our Irish friend John's birthday today, so we met him at Commune, and went to some other bars from there. It was fun to see everybody out at the same time; it's been awhile since we've had a night like that. But I have to confess, I'm pretty tired of Daegu, especially after having last weekend in Seoul. We always go to the same places, and I always see the same people, some of whom I don't really like that much, and everywhere I go, people recognize me. I'm really ready to make my move to Seoul, especially knowing that Evan and Jason are going to be done in about 3 weeks. I was amazed at how comfortable I felt in Seoul. I've never felt that way in Daegu. It was the same feeling that I had when I moved to Toronto for university; so I think that Seoul will be a great home for me. I guess I'm really a big city girl through and through. While there are a few people in Daegu that I would miss a lot, I have to confess that a lot of them are really just "fun" friends, good for a party, but not for much else. Looking forward to getting out of Daegu!
