Barbecue day! This morning as I was lying in bed, it was pouring rain, and I was lying there thinking "Crap, what about the party!" But it stopped raining at about 9am, and after that it was an absolutely gorgeous day! We spent the morning cooking and preparing the roof for the barbecue. I made rice and peas, my first attempt, and it turned out great! Since we had planned the party at the last minute, we weren't really sure how many people would actually come, but we ended up having a great happy (and extremely well-fed) crowd! We did turkey burgers, peppers and fruit on the grill (with a coconut sugar sauce that I found online), with the rice and peas, chips with pineapple salsa and chocolate chip cookies from Costco. It was a huge hit! Later on, most of moved inside, where the party continued until the wee hours of the morning. We have to have more parties, because we are damn good hostesses!
