Week 15- Y3(Jun 17th to Jun 23rd)
Wednesday:Today was the day from hell, for me and all of mystudents. Most of my students had 4 or 5 exams today, and they were literally running back and forth fromclassrooms, due to loads of scheduling and roomproblems. It made it extremely difficult for me to domy tests efficiently as well. They have got to sortout the scheduling thing better next semester. Inever want to have teaching days like my Wednesdayschedule again!
Thursday:Last day of school! More testing, testing, testing. I got really really angry with 3 of my students today, and I think this is the first time I've ever reallyshown them how angry I was. These three girls missedtheir final improv exam (worth 40% of their mark) andalso failed to do the homework earlier in the semester(20%). In other words, they failed miserably, but noteven for any good reason; purely out of utterlaziness, which makes me more angry than anything elsewould. I sat all three of them down and gave them agood lecture. The worst part is that because they are2nd year students, I have to pass them. Arggh! Also annoying-- there is a rumour going around thatI'm quitting in September to study at ManhattanSchool, which is completely unfounded, and I have noidea how this rumour got started. Even the teachersare asking me, and it's quite irritating thatapparently no one has anything better to do than togossip about my potential plans for the future. Lame!On the flip side, I got to have dinner with some of myfavourite students, and it was great to just sitaround and chat with them.
Friday:Tonight I went to my student Na Young's graduationrecital. Once again, I'm so proud of my hagwon girls, and it's a pleasure to spend time with them. After the recital, I headed to Hongdae to meet Jennyand Annabelle. Our friend Adam has just gottenengaged to a South African girl, so we met up with himand his fiance and his friends to have somecelebration drinks. We went to this really cool barthat is decorated like a snow cave. You take yourshoes off at the door, and sit on the floor on littleicy-looking mountain peaks. It was really cool! It has occurred to us that Jenny and I may never seeeach other again-- by the time I get back to Korea, she'll be in England! Boo . . .
Saturday:Today was dedicated to crazy last minute errandrunning and cleaning. First-- present shopping inInsadong. Then, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. Then, packing, packing, packing! Then for dinner, I metJenny, Annabelle and Megan at this new Vietnameserestaurant for dinner. I was absolutely delicious! Afterwards, Annabelle and I headed to the dance studiofor a practise party, which was really fun. Therewere some really good dancers there that I hadn't metbefore, so it was a great chance to practise!
Sunday:Today I got up somewhat early to meet Jenny andAnnabelle for brunch at Suji's. So good! Since itwas the last Jenny-Kari brunch, we splurged and gotpancakes to share along with eggs. Yum! (Maybe it'sa good thiing that Jenny is leaving, before I explodefrom gastronomic overdose . . .)After brunch, I rushed home to finish my packing, andthen it was on to the train station to Busan. Myflight leaves tomorrow morning from Busan to Tokyo, then a short layover, then Tokyo to Vancouver! Yay! Finally vacation is here!So I hung out at Ange's place for a little bit, andthen we headed to Molly's for a homemade taco dinnerand some girly chat.I am SO SO SO excited to be in Canada!
