Monday:
I can't wait to go home! I feel like these next two
weeks are going to feel like forever and a day . . .

Wednesday:
No school today, as it is a national holiday in Korea.
Don't ask what the holiday is, cause I have no idea,
and I bet most Koreans have no idea either! It was
nice to have a chilled out, relaxed day, because from
now until I go home, it's gonna be go, go, go.

Friday:
Tonight, two of my favourite students, Su Bok and Jung
Hee had their graduation recitals from the hagwon. I
was so, so proud of both of them. I was incredibly
impressed by the composure and performance skills both
of them displayed, and I was amazed at how thoughtful
and well planned their concerts were. If all of my
students were like this, I would be the happiest
teacher on the planet!
Afterwards, I went over to Itaewon to meet up with
everyone for Annabelle's birthday party. We had a
great Thai dinner and lots of wine, and then it was on
to Hongdae for . . . salsa dancing! Annabelle also
takes the salsa class with me, and for her birthday,
we really wanted to try out our moves at a club in a
social manner. At first, it was really intimidating,
but it ended up being really fun and friendly, and
there were all types of dancers there, from beginner
to incredibly advanced. The best part: I ran into
this old professor guy from my college! I don't know
what program he teaches in (maybe musical theatre?),
but I see him on the bus every Monday, and for a
60-ish year old man, he's always looking super chill
and hip. And guess what, he ended up being the best
dancer in the whole place! Unfortunately, Annabelle
and I were the only ones from our group who were
digging the salsa dancing, so we were leaving just as
professor guy was asking me to dance. We agreed, next
time. Who would have ever thought that I have to not
only think about running into my students on a night
out (like when I ran into Seung Hwan in Daegu, of all
places), but other professors too!
Our last stop for the night was Funky Funky, ie the
"set" for my infamous foot breaking incident. This
was my first time actually venturing back in there
since the "incident", and I was pretty hesitant (bad
karma there for me now!), but thank god it wasn't very
busy! I suppose I have now conquered my fear of Funky
Funky.

Saturday:
I went down to Daegu today for Chilgok Mike's birthday
party, but first I had to go downtown to buy a camera
for Lindsey. She lost hers in Thailand, and cameras
are so much cheaper here than they are at home, so she
asked if I could pick one up for her. I still can't
get over the fact that I'm now going to be hanging out
with Korea people in Canada! Awesome!
After that, I met up with Mike's crew in the park by
my old apartment, where we had a cooler and a mini
barbecue set up. Doing a barbecue really reminded me
of home. What also struck me about tonight was that
this is probably the last time ever that the original
Chilgok crew (ie, Jason, Evan, Mike and I) will be
together in the same place! Evan is going home next
week (flying out the day before me), and he's starting
teacher's college, so it really is the end of an era.
It was also Felix' birthday today, so after the park,
we all headed downtown to meet up with Felix and his
friends. Once again, it was a crazy, party til dawn
kind of night, real vintage Daegu style!
