Sunday:
Today I had a non-date that has the potential to turn into a very awkward situation . . . Bobby has this guy friend Peter who crashed on our couch a few times, and has hung out with all three of us roommates several times. Summer has a little crush on him, and often asks Bobby about him. About a week ago, Peter sent me an email asking me out on a date. Worse, he's been constantly asking Bobby about me, and telling her how much he likes me. I'm not in the least bit interested in him, and responded to the email saying that I would be happy to be friends with him, but that I wasn't interested in any kind of a romantic relationship. So we agreed to meet today for coffee, as a non-date (I was very very specific about this). Bobby warned me yesterday that Peter was going around telling people that he had a "date" with me, and I was just like great, could I have been any more clear that I wasn't interested? And now I have to decide whether to tell Summer
about any of this and so on . . . Anyway on the "date", I actually found Peter pretty annoying, and I don't really want to hang out with him even just as friends. Definitely the first time I've had boy and roommate problems at the same time!

Tuesday (June 10):
Today I had to cancel yet more classes for another stupid professor's meeting! I'm so annoyed, especially since I had planned on doing final testing today, and now I'll have to reschedule those classes, which means more work and hassle for me. All for a meeting that's a) pointless and redundant (even for the Korean professors) and b) entirely in Korean! Grr.

Friday:
Tonight I went over to Simon's place for a jam session. His band, The Bellows, has just broken up, since Anni's left, and Simon's got all these gorgeous songs that he would like me to sing for him. Most of them are acoustic, singer/songwriter-y kind of stuff that I was really into. Only problem-- his girlfriend Jenn is slightly crazy! I've met her before and been slightly scared of her pingpong ball exaggerated emotions, but tonight was bad, because she was constantly in the room, and she was constantly talking, talking, talking. Simon barely got to play because she just would not shut up! Simon and I could have a great partnership, but Jenn will have to banished from rehearsals if we intend to accomplish anything. However, that said, it was lovely to hang out at their place (several bottles of wine didn't hurt), and it was nice to spend some more time with 2 newish friends.

Saturday:
Today was my last class in my Cheongju masterclass series. The kids were so sweet-- they bought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers, and they really started to come of their shells by this week.
After the class, the boss of the hagwon took my translator and I out to dinner at a really amazing galbi restaurant. It was great! Thank god for Claire, my translator though-- the hagwon owner doesn't speak any English at all. Claire teaches English at an elementary school in Cheongju. There was one more surprise tonight-- the hagwon owner's sister is a jewely designer, so he gave me a beautiful real pearl necklace as a token of appreciation for teaching! What a great gig!
