Directions
The Eight Directions of the compass are south, southwest, west, northwest, north, northeast, east, and southeast. Each is associated with a different kind of Chi Energy. Each direction is also linked with one of the five elements, a symbol of the natural world, a family member, a nine ki number, a colour, a time of day and a season. A distinctive type of energy is found in different sectors of a home, a room or a landscape. These sectors are defined by their direction from the centre of the home, room or landscape, which is determined by a compass. A room in the north of your home, for example, will carry the chi energy of the north; but different parts of that room will also held some elements of the chi energies of the other directions. The Eight Directions are a further refinement of Yin and Yang and the Five Elements, and provide eight different kinds of chi energy to define. There is also the centre, which has it own characteristics, and which in terms of positioning rooms.
Suppose, for example, you feel lonely quite a lot of time. Check your floor plan to see if there is anything in the arrangement of rooms that might explain it. Perhaps your bedroom is in the north of your home. If the head of your bed is also pointing north, this intensifies the chi energy of the north, which carries a risk of isolation and loneliness. A more favourable position for the bedroom would be the south-east because the chi energy there promotes communication and the ability to make friends. The more time you can spend there, the better. Move your head also points south-east; sleep there for at least three months then review any changes in your life. |
