When Seyer was growing up she was an intelligent child. She hid her intelligence because she just wanted to be normal. She taught herself everything that she knows. By four she learned how to play chess. By the age of five she was already pretty handy with a pen. She could write for hours about everything. At age six, she was accurate with a bow and arrow. It goes on and on. She has mastered almost everything she would need to know to survive. But, not everyone knew about all of her talents.
Only one person knew. And that was the love of her life. His name was William Wallace. His family wasn't from around here but they moved to town around the time Seyer learned how to play chess. Everywhere you saw Seyer, William was right by her side, always trying to prove his manhood. When Seyer and William were growing up all they did was compete, who was the best swordsman, who could shoot the straightest arrow, who was the fastest runner, who was the best wrestler, who was the best anything. You name it, they competed for it. All in all Seyer was the best, but every now and then she would let William win because she didn't want to lose his friendship. William was still always trying to prove his manhood to Seyer. He would pick fights with anyone who gave them a glance.
By the time they were 13 years old, they knew that they were meant to be together forever. This was more than friendship now. They realized that they loved each other. William was a great sculpter. He would make all kinds of things for her, but the most precious and cherished of them all was a necklace. It's chain was a rope but what was hanging on it was priceless. He had carved out of stone a small turtle. He glazed it's shell with blue and green. He gave this to Seyer the night he asked her to marry him. They were both 16. He asked her to wear it close to her heart and close to her skin so that she could feel him always there. She of course said yes.
When she went home that night she told her family. Everyone seemed happy for her except her father. He asked her to go to his room after dinner. He sat her down and said that it was a mistake for them to get married. They were too young, and he would only hurt her in the end. He said if you love him and he loves you, you will wait until you are at least 18. So she asked WIlliam if he could wait two years and he said yes. He would do anything for her.
They day before her birthday, William and Seyer were walking along the beach holding hands and laughing with no cares in the world. They were unaware of the group of men who were behind them snickering and laughing. Until one man yelled out, "I HEARD YOU WERE A BOY, TAKE OFF YOUR CLOTHES AND SHOW US, SEYER".
When Seyer and William heard this they turned around and William said, " Hey, that'a not funny guys. Don't bother us and we won't bother you."
The men just laughed even louder. So Seyer and William walked off. Seyer heard one of them yell obscenities about her family and that was the last straw. She turned around and was ready for some butt-kicking. She was about to charge when William touched her hand and said, "Let me handle these guys. I'll go over and see if we can settle this calmly. You stay here and I'll be right back."
So Seyer stayed and William left. He approached the three men and they began to talk. The men laughed at him and started to push him. He pushed back and when Seyer saw this she ran to him. But everything happened so fast. She tripped and fell hard. Her face in the sand . When she looked up again she saw the sword being removed from William. The three men ran in the opposite direction. There lay William with a wound through his heart. She got to him before he died.
His last words were,"I will always love you, forever." And with that said, his head fell back and his body went limp.
Seyer held him close to her, his eyes stayed open and his head was turned towards the ocean. She followed his stare and stayed with him there alone just looking at the ocean. She stayed there with him like that until the next morning. Her father had everyone searching for her. When they found her she didn't want to leave. She was carried away, back to her home.
For her birthday, Seyer, took William's body to their favorite spot. It was on a cliff that overlooked the ocean. All you could see for miles was water and sky. She buried him there with his eyes open and his head turned towards the ocean. Later she will build her cottage on the cliff to the side of his grave.
