On May 4, 2001, we went to Ibaraki to visit Toshi's parents since it was Golden Week in Japan (one week holiday for most people).
We wanted to get some exercise since we didn't have much chance to do it iin Tokyo. So we decided to climb Tsukuba Mountain which is one of the most famous mountains in Japan.
It is about 877m high, about one third of Mount Fuji. However, the first part was most difficult since it has very steep slopes. Forunately, it became easier eventually, and with strange rocks and nice senery on the way. Although the route was quite dangerous, with some very slippery and steep rocks. We can still find a lot of people of all ages working their way up.
Toshi's parents also went to the top of the mountain, and they were even faster than us! Because they used the ropeway (cable car) which took 4 minutes to get to the top! |
