April 7-8, 2001, Toshi and I went to Kawaguchiko, near Mt Fuji for a weekend trip. It is a little celebration of our anniversary plus my birthday - may be just an excuse to go away.
Kawaguchiko is one of the 5 lakes at Mt Fuji area so from there we can clearly see Mt Fuji. The pity thing was we were a little bit too early for the Sakura blossom in the area, which is normally two weeks later than the Tokyo blossom. We stayed in Fujiview Hotel which has a very nice Japanese style garden full of Sakura trees. So we really wish to come back again some time later to be able to view it at its charmest.
The famous food there is Hodo, which is like Udon but a little wider and thinner. I liked it so much that we had it for dinner the first night and then lunch again the second day! |
