ACLU of North Carolina
[State chapter of ACLU] The mission of the American Civil Liberties Union is to fight civil liberties violations wherever and whenever they occur, and to conserve America’s original civic values – the Constitution and the Bill of Rights – and defend the rights of every man, woman and child in this country.
Bodhi Tree House
A Guest House and Retreat Facility recently built by and for the Transgender Community. Located in mountain splendor near Asheville, NC, it is offered to serve all transgendered people seeking accommodations in a safe and welcoming environment – as singles, couples, or even to host their own retreat.
Center for LGBT Life - Duke University
Exists to provide education, advocacy, support, and space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and straight-allied students, staff, and faculty at Duke, as well as alumni/ae and members of neighboring communities. Through its services, the Center for LGBT Life presents educational, cultural, and social opportunities for all students, faculty, staff, and alumni/ae to challenge intolerance and to create a more hospitable campus climate.
Cross Creek Girl’s Club (CCGC)
A social group (not a dating service) for crossdressers, transgendered and transsexual individuals, their family and friends located in Fayetteville which offers first and foremost a safe and comfortable place for members of the gender community to meet.
Equality North Carolina
A statewide organization dedicated to securing equality and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. Equality NC is comprised of two groups: Equality NC PAC, a political and electoral arm, and Equality NC Project, an educational arm.
It’s Time – North Carolina (IT-NC)
[State chapter of Gender Education and Advocacy (GEA) (f.k.a. It’s Time America)] A statewide organization, established for advancing the social acceptance and political interests of the Transgender and Gender Diverse Community of North Carolina and to coordinate with such groups which might exist including Transgender and Gender Diverse people in their mission statements.
Kappa Beta
[Chapter of Tri-Ess] A social and support group for heterosexual crossdressers, their partners, family, and friends. Based in Charlotte, the chapter formed in 1988 and serves the southern and western portions of North Carolina and upstate South Carolina.
Kindred Spirits
Service to the spiritual life of the Transgender Community, supporting its leaders, teachers, healers, artists and seekers in non-dogmatic, creative and playful ways (including year-round retreats at various locations).
NC Pride
North Carolina’s Annual Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered Pride Parade and Festival.
NC TG Unity
A consortium of all transgendered support groups, political organizations, and other GLBT organizations in the state of North Carolina, promoting an environment for working together and sharing information.
Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG)
[Triangle chapter of PFLAG] An all volunteer, not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping parents and their gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning children understand each other.
Phoenix Transgender Support
Founded in 1986 and is located in Asheville, North Carolina. It is an open support group for Crossdressers, Transsexuals, Transgenderists and others in the gender community, their partners and supporters.
Sigma Rho Delta
[Chapter of Tri-Ess] A social and support group for heterosexual crossdressers, their partners, family, and friends. Based in Raleigh (the Triangle area), the chapter formed in 1997 and serves the eastern portions of North Carolina and South Carolina, as well as southern Virginia.
The Tarheel Transmen
A social and support group specifically for FTM (female-to-male) transgendered men in North Carolina.
Triad Gender Association (TGA)
A social group located in Greensboro, North Carolina for all transgender-identified individuals (male or female crossdressers, pre/post/non-op transsexuals) regardless of race, religion, or sexual orientation; spouses and significant others are also welcome.
