Parents: Frederick Jacob Lichtenberger and Catherine Hoffer.

December 23 1847 the Lichtenbergers left the town of Bayern and arrived in America via the New Orleans area on the Ship Alesto.Then moved up the Mississippi. Work: Ran his own business, a hardware store, in Durand Illinois, with a partner named Mr. Burrell. After a brief stint in Freeport, opened the same business on his own in Savanna, in 1878.I'm assuming the picture below is taken in Savanna, probably businesses on Main St.. He also served as Postmaster from 1895- 1899.

Education: Schooling in the city of Freeport, Illinois. At 16 he was a tinsmith's apprentice,then a journeyman.

Marriage: Mary E. Moran, January 1st or 3rd of 1867.

Author's note: He looks very 'old west', doesn't he? Like he could break out into 'shoot' and 'aw shucks' at any minute.

who were from Ireland.
Lived in Albany at age 16, in 1860.
Somewhere between 1860 and '67, the family moved to Shannon, Illinois. In 1867 she was in Freeport getting married,
and her and William settled in Savanna in 1877, at 512 Third Street.(see pic below)

Work: Wife and very busy mother.Very involved with the social circles of Savanna, charities, and the like.
She had servants, which means they were well-to-do:
