Work and travel: Began as a clerk in a Hardware store in Montgomeryshire, and eventually got ownership of his own store, in the same shire, in Newtown. August 30, 1852 he arrived in NY on the ship Western World. He lived in Buffalo, NY for five or six years, and then moved to Thorold-St Catharines area in Ontario, Canada. Does not seem to have worked at this point or thereafter. Or, is not mentioned in his obituary, where this information is from. Lived with his brother(don't know which one) on his farm after Caroline died, then went to live with son William II in Savanna Illinois about 1898.

Work and travel: Seems as though she got married, had kids, then died. Lived in Newtown, probably met and married William there, had her children. Then they went across the pond, as some people say in Europe, to the U.S., then to St.Catharines, Canada, where she died a year or so later.
Author's note: My Great Aunt Ann, who would be Caroline's Great Granddaughter, says that she was called 'Lady' Caroline, assuming back in Wales. It could just be that people called her that in the town, because she was a sweet person, or very giving, as sometimes happens- instead of being an actual title.
