| Starburst At The Cross |
| When I opened Karen's Glass Garden in May of 2000 I crossed a threshold in my work. At the age of 34, I had been customizing, stained glass art for over a decade. Showcasing my colorful projects including glass windows, sun catchers, lamps, lawn ornaments, and more had always been the goal I knew I had to reach. In the spring of 2000 I opened a small shop in Idaho. Having available custom work, gifts, supplies and classes. This is where the large 30 square foot window around the cross was created. That you will find on this page below. Karen's Glass Garden was moved to the internet in spring of 2002. After closing my store in Idaho and moving home to Colorado. My goal here is to have a place for everyone to go to see the creations of Karen's Glass Garden. Please enjoy your stop here and come back often as things will continue to change. |
| Each of the two small panels at the top of the cross had 126 pieces of glass in them. Each of the two large windows at the bottom of the cross had over 300 pieces of glass. The beginning of the project was the best part. The pattern that I had to work with was no larger than 4 inches by 2 inches. This had to be projected on to a wall with an old ovrehead projector to bring it to the size needed for each panel. Two patterns had to be made for each of the four panels. One for a pattern cutout and one for a pattern layout. Everyone was welcome to take part in the making of the "Praise Church Windows". Visitors at the Starbuck house had to only ask if they could help and I would show them what to do and over see the work. No one went away without trying their hand at the art of stained glass. After three months of hard work the "Starbust at the Cross" was complete. Ready to be installed. |
