If you are wondering why in the world I have chosen the name "Iron Range Rabbitry", I would love to explain it to you. Florida is famous for Disney World..well, we have something even better up here in northern Minnesota called Ironworld. While Ironworld might not have Mickey & Minnie Mouse, Cinderella, etc., we have Pellet Pete instead..and the huge Iron Man. What more could you ask for? How about the breath-taking beauty of northern Minnesota. The open pit mines are absolutely stunning and the ore dumps (rocks and things that aren't useful in making the iron) are like a small mountain range running from Grand Rapids, MN to Virginia, MN and up through the Vermillion area also. The mines look just like a mini-Grand Canyon. So I have named my rabbitry after the beautiful location that I live in. Did you know that about 70 per cent of all the iron ore mined in the U.S. comes from Minnesota?
The name Minnesota comes from the Sioux Indian words meaning sky-tinted waters. Minnesota is famous for the 10,000 plus lakes throughout the state. The Mississippi River also starts here in northern, MN. And the northern shore of Lake Superior is absolutely goreous!! There are a lot of trails to hike and thousands of lakes to fish..both in the summer and winter! Snowmobiling trails are endless and children can be seen all bundled up in the winter time sledding down hills and playing ice hockey at each towns many outdoor ice rinks! If you are in to hunting, we have white-tailed deer, grouse/partridge, many species of ducks, canadian geese, snowshoe hares and cottontail rabbits. The Boundry Waters Canoe Area has unlimited fishing lakes and beautiful forests.
So if you are thinking of a fun place to spend vacation and spend some time outdoors with your family and friends...Minnesota is the place to be at year long! |
