Since graduating from Toronto’s York University with a BFA Honors in Theatre Performance, Thea (pronounced TAY-ya) Gill has enjoyed an extremely active & winning career in film, television, theatre, and as an accomplished singer. Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, Ms. Gill currently stars in the lead role of Lindsay Peterson on Showtime’s highest rated and extremely successful series "Queer as Folk," which is currently in production on its 3rd season in Toronto and will air in March 2003. Thea also recently starred in the PAX MOW "Tornado Warning," opposite TV legends Gerald McRaney and Joan Van Ark. In addition, she just completed filming lead roles in two new television series, the pilot of PAX’s "Just Cause" with Richard Thomas, and the anthology series "Bliss" for the Oxygen Network. Her other most recent films are the upcoming "Sightings: Heartland Ghost" with Beau Bridges, Miguel Ferrer and Nia Long for Paramount/Showtime, "Me and My Shadows" directed by Robert Allan Ackerman, "Washed Up" directed by Michael DeCarlo, and "Common Ground" written by its star Harvey Feirstein and directed by Donna Deitch. Other projects include lead and supporting roles in such films as "Lilly," "Let Me Call You Sweetheart," "Trial of a Serial Killer" with Chris Penn and Michael Madsen, "Awake" and "Grateful." Memorable television credits include feature roles in the Dick Wolf series "D.C.," "Due South," "Traders," "Forever Knight," "Secret Service," "Top Cops," "Kung Fu," and "Royal Canadian Air Force." Thea has also appeared in a number of national television commercials.

As a stage actor, Thea has appeared in starring roles for a number of theatres across Canada. Notable roles include Mary Ann in George F. Walker's "Better Living" for Factory Theatre, Nell in Theatre Junction's premiere of Sharon Pollack's "Moving Pictures," Lavinia in Larry Fineberg's "The Clairvoyant," Yelena in Guardian Spring Production's "Uncle Vanya," Desdemona in Lovers and Madmen's production of "Othello," Frances Farmer in Hollywood Ten's production of Sally Clark's "Saint Frances of Hollywood," Rosaura in Skylight Theatre's "Life's A Dream," and Juliet in the Arbour Festival production of "Romeo and Juliet." As a jazz singer, Thea last worked as the Midsummer Lounge's featured act onboard the Mediterranean and Caribbean cruise ship M.S. Carousel. Thea will be returning to the microphone with an upcoming three night solo singing gig at the world-renowned jazz club Top O’ the Senator in Toronto at the end of October.

Recently named one of Canada’s 25 Most Beautiful Stars, Thea now calls Victoria on Vancouver Island in British Columbia home. She lives with her husband, director Brian Richmond and their four cats. She is step-mom to successful Canadian playwright Jacob Richmond, and step-grandmother to step-daughter Celine Richmond’s two children.
