Gotthold Hemme and his family sailed from Grossbrembach Germany in 1854 on the ship "Jeverland". They landed in New York. From there they came to Detroit, MI. They lived on Russell St. until 1859. They moved to Macomb Co., MI and were on the 1860 census for that county. Sometime in the early 1860's they bought land in Macomb Co., Clinton Twp., MI. He built a home that is still standing to this day. It is on Mulvey Rd., present day Fraser, MI. Proudly, the barn that he built was moved to its present site behind the Baumgartner House on Masonic and Kelly in Fraser, MI.
