| Flying in the face of Political Correctness Is is my imagination, or has the world gone crazy with political corrctness? Oh, sorry, I mean does the world have "mental health difficulties" with political correctness? |
| The word 'black' And the word 'black' has to be deleted from our vocabulary now doesn't it? A blackboard is now a chalkboard. Black coffee is just coffee without milk. But what about blackmail, blackbirds, and blackberries? God knows. Or should I say, 'a deity from your chosen faith' knows. I think we are going to have to do a 1984-style makeover of our dictionaries, and re-write any references to colour at all. We all know that the blackberry is resposible for all the racist lunatics in our society. |
| Don't get me wrong, I think racism and discrimination in any way are bad things, and we shouldn't use offensive words and say things that will hurt or upset other people... But are people in wheelchairs really offended by the term 'disabled parking', and does a black person really object to 'blackboard'? I highly doubt it, and that is when political correctness has gone overboard. So there. If you are offended by any of this, please view my disclaimer, you retarded spack. |
| The word 'man' Why has 'mankind' become 'humankind', whereas 'chairman' has become 'chairperson'? Why not 'personkind', and 'chairhuman'? (Though I notice that it's still OK to say 'manure'!) I've heard that some crazy feminist types even object to the word 'history' as it implies his story rather than hers. Clearly, every word in the English language that contains the three letters 'man', needs to be replaced with 'person' or else the country will fall apart. Let's really level the playing field, and get urinals in womens toilets, and all have a double mastectomy to free us from the burden of breasts! |
| Stupidity Nobody is simply stupid any more, are they? No, they have fancy names for it to make it sound like a disability, when in fact, they are pig thick because their parents are pig thick, and they are descended from a long line of stupid and ignorant losers. They should not be allowed to glorify their stupidity by giving it a name to make it sound like a condition. Some people are just plain stupid, and it's time we realised that! I knew someone who said her son struggled with reading: I asked if he was dyslexic and she said: "no, he's not dyslexic - but he has 'word blindness' which means when he tries to read, he can't understand it." She said. I asked when he was diagnosed with it, and she said he hadn't been diagnosed: that there was no real condition called 'word blindness', that's just what she calls it. I call it being lazy, ignorant, and thick as a plank. |
| The word 'Disabled' I remember when I went for my interview at Nottingham university (in a wheelchair) and I asked someone where the toilets were, and she said "The womens toilets are down there on the right, and there's a..... um..... well..... another toilet down there on the left." Like, she was too afraid of offending me by saying the word 'disabled'.... In one of the modules in my teaching course, we were given a list of words that we are and aren't supposed to use. Apparently, you aren't allowed to say 'disabled parking' any more: you have to say 'parking for people with mobility difficulties'. Really trips off the tongue doesn't it? |

| "Religious" Christmas decorations At Chrismas time, some shops refuse to have a Santa Claus, or to put up any Christmas decorations, for fear of it offending people from other religions. This is ludicrous - If I went to a Muslim country, I would not be offended to see celebrations of Ramadan, and I'm certain that no-one from any religion would be offended to see celebrations of Christmas in a country that celebrates Christmas! It's not even as if Santa is a religious icon, anyway. Enjoying our traditions by putting up decorations does not mean we're enciting religious hatred, and I'm sure that all religions agree with that! |

| "Positive" discrimination There's a wonderful thing called positive discrimination, and it says that a company needs to employ a certain number of e.g. non-white people, and people with learning disabilities. This is a good idea, to stop discrimination..... but it's a bad idea when a company employs someone not because they're good at their job (and just happen to be disabled), but they employ them just to meet their quota. There's a McDonalds I used to go to which had a person with Downs Syndrome working there, who was utterly incompetent, and would not speak to you, but they just employed her to fit in with their policy. This is a backward mentality. I mean, it's a stupid idea. Oh no, I can't say that either, it's um... it has learning difficulties.... it's a "special" idea. |
